3D printed "TSS Garnish" for 2nd Gen Alibaba TRD Pro Grille

Hey all,

I have been working on creating a replacement for the glossy garnish that comes on the Alibaba 2nd Gen TRD Pro style Grille. See original thread here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/2nd-gen-trd-pro-style-grille-insert.82355/







It is 3D printed in black ABS plastic. It could be sanded and painted if you care to, but it looks great as is, especially from a few feet away.

Price is $50 shipped USPS flat rate in the lower 48. DM me for payment info.

Also, in the spirit of the maker community, I would be happy to provide the file for free if you have access to a 3D printer.

Installation is very easy: The glossy garnish is held on to a backer by double sided tape. If you carefully separate the glossy piece from the backer, you can even reuse the double sided tape. My prototype has been on the truck for months and it fought me when I took it off to install the updated piece.

 

curious... are you planning on, or considering, providing the file for people to print these themselves? weighing my options on what route to go with my front end.

Received and installed mine today. I will say the piece from Rob looks absolutely great! Thanks for the tip on installing it as well. I will post here for others to see how I went about it. 10/10

First off I separated the glossy piece from the rest of the backer plate. (Try to be careful here not to ruin the 3M tape)
After removing the glossy part make sure to clean the back side of the new part from Rube207 with alcohol.

Then I took a blow dryer and heated up the old 3M tape and pressed the new 3D printed part into its new home.


Overall I could not be happier with the new updated look of the front end!

Thanks for posting the tips about install. I didn’t document it when I first installed mine, so I’m glad you added it to the thread. It will definitely be helpful for the others about to do the same thing.

 

Apologies to anyone who has reached out to me over the last month or so looking for either a printed garnish or the file. I haven't been keeping up, but I will do my best to stay on top of it from here on out.
