Aaaaaand I just realized I might have the brackets installed wrong lol. I’m planning on taking the bumper apart again and either spraying the bumper caps with bedliner or redoing the plastidip on them, so I’ll see if the work flipped from side to side. I hadn’t really noticed a lot of bounce with the light on, but now that it’s shimmed out it might be an issue.

Just found this thread! Awesome build, totally dig the route you’re going with your truck. I’m impatient, so I went through the first page, then skipped to the last. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Now I remember why I mounted them the way I did - the bracket holes weren't drilled right, so a modification was needed to go on the two outside studs. I'll probably wait and see how the bar does next time I'm on a rough road at night. If the bounce isn't bad, I'll leave it as-is.

I thought I found a decent deal on a soft top trifold tonneau cover locally but it definitely is NOT for a CrewMax, and probably not for a Tundra at all.

I’m going to mess with it more tomorrow. The guy I bought it from said it came off a 2019 TRD Pro… so who knows at this point. Anyone run into fitment issues with this brand and have any thoughts on how to fix?

He listed it for a 5.5 ft bed though, and I think it would be too short for a DC bed. I dunno though. I’m gonna see if it fits my buddy’s Sierra and just give it to him for his bday if it does. If not, it’ll go on Craigslist and I’ll hope for the best.

Do you still have their number? I'd inquire if they had any installed pictures. Maybe that would give some clues as to how it fit on their truck.

I texted back and forth with him a couple times. Not a lot of helpful info. But, I was able to get it cut down and it should work out well. I just need to get the vinyl/canvas stretched a little more and re-secure it at the front.

Just finished up and it turned out pretty good! I cut about 3 inches off the tailgate end of the frame and then slid the rest of the frame forward to tighten it up.

    Pic dump:

This is where I made the cut

I ended up having to notch the hell out of the unistrut to get the rear cover clamps to work. I’m not worried about the structural integrity of the rails, they just kinda look like shit now. I might mask them off and paint them in place so I can cover the bolts and washers too.

Anyway, the cover and rails seem to be good to go and should function well for what I need:

I'll eventually clean up those edges with a file or grinder, just got too hot in the garage yesterday lol. I'll also take the quick fist mounts off after I add some storage back there and just put them on when I'm actually using them.

A buddy and I took off work a little early on Friday to enjoy the milder than average weather and check out a couple trails. The upgrades on the suspension did great - very happy with the off-road ride quality between the coilovers and leaf pack tweaks.

I'm sifting through my dash cam footage and will upload some stuff to YouTube eventually, but there's nothing really exciting that I've found, yet.

Decent rake on the drivers fender/door but looks like that will buff out
    IMG_2431.jpg

And looks like I'll be removing my plastidip on the bumper caps and figuring out a more permanent solution for chrome-deleting the bumpers. Thinking I might just do some self-etching primer and bedliner, but open to suggestions on that.

I've considered those, just not a huge fan of how they sit on top of the fog light bezels, though. But if I do black TPO it might not be very noticable, and it looks like the price has come down a bit from when they launched.

I dig the bedliner idea on the caps! So I plastidipped my caps in 2018, a year later I sprayed primer and Raptor liner over the plastidip. The idea was that the bedliner won’t chip off because of the rubberized plastidip over the chrome. Two years with the bedliner on the caps with tons of travel and off-road, I have zero chips.

My plastidip is pretty beat up, so I’ll just remove that and prime right over the chrome if I go that route. Good to hear your route has been holding up well.

It was nice to get out there. Hopefully we can organize something soon for a few of us locals.

Got some T2S prep done tonight. Picked up a Baofeng UV-5R Pro kit off Amazon that came with an extended battery, remote mic, spare battery and programming cable. The handheld radio mount is also from Amazon, then I attached that to an old magnetic phone mount that I removed the magnets from. That all hooks to my dash ball that I use for my new phone mount, which I don’t use on trails.

Nice setup. Do you feel they are really needed for T2S? I plan to attend 2 days and run a couple trails as well.
