    Hey all,
I currently have a Snugtop Rebel. I'm considering swapping it out for something else. I've had it for 3 years now. I added the reinforced top, so it's incredibly heavy and it's also starting to bow out at the end of the truck bed, even though it's attached securely to the cargo rails. I'd prefer to find one that's aluminum to save on weight but still have strength.

I like the look of the SmartCap EVO, but it seems to be just a good website without any actual product to look at.

    https://rhinoprous.com/product/smartcap-evo/

I also like the bed tray, but that's a larger investment, and not sure I want to do that.

    My requirements are as follows

    1) The ability to move between the cap and the truck via the back window.
    2) Side opening windows
    3) Ideally, I'd like the topper to be 6" taller than my cab so there's more headroom on top of my Decked system. It would also make it flush with my roof rack. Not a requirement but a nice to have.

I've seen the commercial toppers that Snugtop offers, but I don't think they really offer much of what I currently have. Does anyone have any thoughts on options on the market that I could look at?

    Thanks in advance!
    Todd

I have a Consumer version on my 2001 and a Commercial one on my 2015 and you can get them configured almost exactly the same way though the commercial are a lot more heavy duty to me.

Check the used market for these. Usually can find a pretty good deal.

Are you only looking because the bed is starting to bow? Would bed stiffeners work? It would save a lot of $$.

Nah, mostly looking be a use I’m not impressed with the build quality of my Snugtop. Not only is it starting to bow, but I’ve had 2 mounts for the gas struts break. I’m not hard on my windows either I only open them occasionally. The seals around the windows also are poorly installed. In general just seems to be a poorly manufactured $3000 piece of fiberglass.

I think all of the major companies make aluminum tops with side windows in their DCU line which is a commercial work top.

The one pictured above on the red truck is a Swiss Top made in Indiana and obviously they make these too.

ARE is for sure not the only company making them.

    Watching this tread.

The stainless toppers look good but seem untested? Some stories of leaks and paint issues…but there is always someone with something to complain about…

If Alu-Cab made the same line for Tundras as Tacomas I’d be set.
