Hey all. Long time Toyota owner, currently have a 2015 Taco Offroad (fairly built) and wife is in a 2021 ORP T4R. Also have a 4th Gen T4R thats just an extra car and previously had a 2003 Tundra Limited that I wish I'd never sold. With the recent addition of our first child and my 5 year plan including buying (and towing) a 23-25' Center Console, I will be moving to a Full Size in the future. So obviously the new Tundra has my attention. I am not usually an early adopter but depending on the specs and my needs I may jump on a new one sooner rather than later.

I echo what's already been said. Congrats, cute and I too am thinking of moving to Lake Norman. I've been there several times and was just there 2 last week for 2 days checking out Mooresville, Davidson and Cornelius. Saw lots of cool Toyotas so I know its good people territory.

Regarding the gen4. Some will hate it because it doesn't have a V8, isn't as modern as they hoped, etc... But the reality is that Toyota hasn't put out a bad product in my lifetime. The hours of R&D and the proven history of the twin turbo v6 in the Lexus line will do fine for all but the most demand jobs. Likely if the the 4th gen wont do it, you should be in a 2500/F250 class anyhow and not a 1/2 ton truck.

Lake Norman is a great area, the one thing I will caution you (and @Jim LE 1301 ) is to do some research on the cancer clusters that exist in and around Lake Norman/Huntersville areas.

I love a V8 as much as the next guy but I'm all for more power and more efficiency if they can maintain the same reliability. I will not need to tow 12,000 pounds but it'll be more than my Tacoma or 4Runner can handle comfortably. Basically just want to be able to tow a 8Kish pound boat from Charlotte to the beach a couple times a year.

This is probably one of those wait and see scenarios. I've had a 4th (V8) and 5th gen 4runner, as well as a GX470. The GX towed a 23 foot dual console Regal boat fine but it was pretty harrowing at times (from Lake Norman, where we bought the boat to Lake Gaston where it currently sits at a Marina).

I have towed the same boat with my Crewmax tundra and there was a clear difference. As far as the 3rd vs 4th Gen Tundras are concerned, I think you just have to wait until the new one comes out. I deloberatly went with the 3rd gen because I am big into simplicity and rawness with my vehicles. I think the new Tundra will be more refined for sure to keep up with the F150s and Co. but that's what appealed to me about the Tundra in the first place. There was something very solid and rugged about it that I appreciate about the Truck.

I totally get this mindset. I waiting to test drive a 3rd get Taco at the end of 2015 before buying my 2015 (last year of the second gen). I was not impressed with the 3.5 motor or the transmission. I've been thrilled with my 2nd gen and it was the right call for me.

I have never liked the current, 2007+ Tundras personally, if this new 2022 doesn't blow my skirt up I'll probably end up with a F-150 unfortunately. But I have high hopes.

Right now we have a 22' Tritoon with a 150 HP and the Taco would probably tow that around town ok but wouldn't want to go too far with it. The Center Console we get will be out of the quesiton.

Fine for now though, we don't even have a trailer since we keep the Bennington on a lift.
