Hey guys! Just wanted to bounce something off you. I’ve recently installed a Rockford Fosgate 10” sub with a ported box in my 2021 Tundra from the Tech12volts guys. It sounds better than it did with the stock sub. Especially in the back seat. However, there seems to be a “dead area” when sitting in both front seats. So, my question is. What do you guys recommend to help the bass travel to the front seat? I would love for it to sound as good as it does in the back seat. I would like to keep the head unit and change out as little as possible or at the very least install speakers that are compatible with the existing equipment. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

reverse the polarity of the sub. swap the positive and negative wires at the sub and should sound like it does in the back in the front

OK, sounds good. I followed the directions on the polarity. I will check that out when I get home though. I was thinking the same thing too but didn’t have an opportunity to swap it last night cause a big storm that rolled through. Thanks James! If you can still send me that information on the mono amp that would be great.

Hey Loy how long did it take till you got it. I plan on ordering just not sure if I want the double 10 or single. I emailed James about it. Also did you get the sub from tech12volts or buy it yourself. Let me know on the sound after you make the adjustment. Thanks.

Will do. I bought everything through tech12volts and James helped me with it. It took less than 2 weeks from the day I ordered it to when it was delivered. I’ll update you tonight after I switch polarity and how it affects the sound.

Sounds good. Did you think about going 2 subs or had your mind made up with one. I may stay with one not sure.

Well, I wanted to start small because overall I like the sound of the JBL system. I just needed more bass. I had been talking with another Tundra owner from a Facebook group I’m in and he said he LOVED the improvement to the sound for the price. So, I always had one in mind. If the polarity doesn’t solve my issue, I might see about getting a bigger amp to run two subs. We shall see.

While you are checking the polarity, check the low pass cut off frequency, it should be <100-80hz and that it is actually engaged. (Not set to full range).

Edit: If you are using the factory amp, you can't adjust, so disregard.

Getting some more bass in my Tundra is next up for me as well! This has def been inspiring. I'm no audiophile(spelling?), but I do enjoy cranking the volume up a bit especially on the ride home from work.

I started with a ported single sub box and JBL woofer from Taylor’s and built from there to what I have now.
The single sub is a great start, but be warned
...... you won’t stop building from there!

Polarity fixed the issue. It sounds amazing while sitting in the driver seat. Less than $250 investment with the existing JBL System and now it finally sounds the way I like it.

Yep. Left the existing amp too. James and the guys built a custom ported box and installed the RF speaker. I’m super happy with it. I would start with this option first and see how you like it. Upgrade if needed.

Go for it. It should work with the 2018 but I think they’re doing a different speaker than the 2021. Apparently the Rockford Fosgate does better with the existing equipment in the 2021. When you place your order they will send you a build spec sheet. On that spec sheet specify that you have a 2018 and they will put the correct speaker for that year. It might not be a RF but the results should still be the same. Good luck! Post some pics!!

Forgive my ignorance, you just ran the stock sub wires to the box James built? I have been trying to find out the wattage of the factory amp to see if it can push a larger\better sub. I like the JBL system enough for now, just want a little more bass without tearing the whole truck apart and dropping a bunch of $$.

Correct. I wouldn’t recommend figuring it out on your own. I am enjoying it every time I drive my truck. It sounds great. I would recommend using James.
