I want to get the owb holster from aliengear and then get the dock to mount in my truck.

FYI, if you don't mind having the pistol visible, the NRA store offers a unit that you insert into one of the cupholders. Fits my Glock 43 perfectly and makes it easily accessible. Legal in AZ, don't know about other states.

This unit from the NRA Store makes access to the firearm easy and is not concealed. Here in AZ you can do it either way, open or concealed. I tried both my Glock 43 and PX-4 Compact, they fit fine, the cup did not "stick" to the gun24559lg.jpg .

does it have anything to make the holster part stay in the cup holder when you draw the weapon? i'd hate to be in a situation, draw my gun, and the "cup" holster come up with it. Not a lot of bad guys going to give you an extra couple seconds to then separate the holster from the gun.

No holster, there is just a cut out in the top of the "cup" and the pistol "rests" in the cutout on top. Tried it out a number of times for the reason you state, never had a problem. Perhaps a full size 1911 or similar might get stuck. It definitely beats having to open the center console.

Just took my CCW class for the certificate. Will be applying for permit soon. The cost is $52.50 + whatever the sherif wants up to $100. So most likely I'm paying $152.50. Also heard it takes about 3 months. Will be searching for the proper gun and holster soon also.

Not a bad price, Tennessee just lowered their life time CCW permit to $200.

Our CCW, I was told could take 3 months but I had mine in less than a week but a buddy of mine it took is like 5 months. They just get around to it when they feel like it, it seems.

Constitutional carry in Alaska. No permit needed. :D

That said, I've been thinking about getting one for reciprocity when I travel to the lower 48 in some areas.

Not sure if this was updated as a definite but I was in the CCW yesterday and learned that as of right now YOU DO NOT have to have a permit to carry a weapon anywhere, in any condition, in a vehicle. Your assumption in the previous message was correct

Edit: COLORADO ONLY for this statement. The law varies from state to state.

Pretty easy to screw the holster to the inside of the vault

Or just use a round gun magnet, no drilling required

Yeah, those magnets sound pretty good. I had the holster and screws through, so didn't spend anything, which is always a plus!

I use a foam insert that was made for a 50 cal ammo can. It holds my SR40 just fine, but not made for 1911 without extending(cutting) out some more room for the length. For the remaining open space (To the right) I am working on a foam to house my AR-15 mags. It fits snug without any glue and i can remove the foam and back to normal storage in 2 minutes.

Not a bad idea, but it would eat up too much room in my locker down console vault.

My only complaint with this would be how do you draw with a single hand? Trigger protection = good. Inability to get it out of the holster and have your finger on the trigger in seconds = bad..

Same with open carry. Varies from county to county. Up here you could walk around with an AK and nobody blinks. Some county you could get the firing squad for a water pistol

Mine is a little less crafty, but very effective.

This is the Alien Gear Cloak Mod paddle holster with the dock. I now have four AG holsters and I can't recommend them enough. There are holsters out there with more bling but AG delivers a very effective and reliable holster at a very good price. Fit is perfect, and everything from cant to retention is adjustable. This setup was ~$65 shipped.

Need to practice drawing with it a bit, but very happy with this setup. =D
