So I stopped by an audio shop today and got a quote for installing an Axxess DSP with a JL RD900/5 amp with lifetime guarantee.

It came out to $2000 total about $1200 parts $700 labor rest taxes. I did some price checking and their price is comparable to any other that I can find for the amp & DSP.

The guy owns a Tundra and knows James and has spoken with him multiple times.

    Thoughts?

Can you supply the parts? You can get the DSP and amp from crutchfield for under $1,000 before tax. I opted to replace the HU rather than use a DSP and have been very happy with the decision.

I can but the DSP is 299 and the amp is $629. Its the other stuff like amp wiring kit and the misc parts that I would get charged for anyway.

I would fact check it with james and see what he thinks about the setup. I have a feeling he may say that the Rockford Fosgate DSR1 is going to be a better option. I think i heard that there was a stock shortage on the dsr1 (may be wrong about this), maybe thats why they are going with the Axxess....or its what they stock. What speakers are you going with?

If you are up for a project, you could save yourself some money, hardest part imo is running the power wire for the amp. Everything else is straight forward.

I email James back and forth a couple of months ago and and said that he switched to the Axxess DSPs. I didn't get it from him as he didn't have any and didn't know when they would be available. I have installed the Hertz K170s front & rear and dual 12" Infinity reference 1200s.

I recently switched to listening to Apple music and there is quite a bit of difference in the quality.

Another shop quoted $950 for install if I bring the parts. They had 3 RF DSR1s in stock so I am stuck on which way to go. I think I will contact James and see what he thinks. I know it is not that hard of a project but I know me and I would forget something and have to keep getting other parts or redo something so in the long run I would rather pay to have it done correctly the first time.
