So I have thought about it for a while and I think I am going to try and install a power inverter somewhere on the ol RW. I have pulled campers, dump trailers and your everyday utility trailer and keep running into the same old problem. Everytime I need electricity I am looking for the nearest plug in to run a 100FT cord to. I am getting really tired of running out and then recoiling cords. I have thought about winding the extension cords around a spring loaded cord real, for easy recoiling, but most I can find are only good for 25-50ft of cord. I tried a hose real but it seems the 100Ft cords melt their insulation unless pulled out all the way, even my heavy 10 gauged ones. Then there is the reeling it back in and trying to keep it laying nice. It dawned on me, I have dual batteries so why not just install a power inverter and have power as close to me as possible. My wife suggested to just get a small generator, but that would take up to much cargo space and be heavy for just one guy to load and unload all the time. Not to mention the gas cans and extra cost of maintenance. I am getting to my point here. Has anyone installed an inverter in the bed of their trucks? I am looking at one that can charge my tool batteries and even possibly run a pancake compressor if i need to, for short amounts of time of course. I am getting rid of my topper and putting some kind of tonneau cover on before this though, probably within the next few weeks. I am looking for some info on the best places near the rear of the bed to mount. I would like to see some pics if anyone has one mounted and possibly some tips in the how to department. All suggestions and tips are appreciated.
