Got the news I will most likely having to haul kids + carpool/friends with a new school arrangement (we've got 3 of our own) and so thinking about moving my new Tundra.
I've got an appointment tomorrow to look at some 3 row SUVs, what should I be looking for with a trade-in value or even sale price? I'd even be open to selling on here if the price is right. 2021 SR5 4wd, Safety + convenience (?) package (power seat, center consul etc). I've done 1" coach builder front shims, FN FX Pro wheels, 275/65R18 Toyo AT3s (at 1,200 miles), Cement bulge and Pro grill (AJT TSS bracket works perfectly), debugged + black "Tundra" insert, AJT Designs center counsel chrome delete + shift knob. 5,700 miles.

Flawless truck. Open to suggestions on trade-in value, but sale thinking $49,500 based on what I am seeing. Thanks!

I hate to say it but all your aftermarket upgrades really don’t boost the value of your truck at all. Dealer will give you the trade in value of the standard SR5 package. I would strip and sell off all your aftermarket parts, bring it back to stock and then go to the dealer. Otherwise you might have luck selling it privately to someone (maybe a forum member) that would appreciate the mods.

Put it back to stock, sell your mods/upgrades separately, and see what Carvana will give you.

Better to get 50-75% of what you spent on those upgrades than 0 if you sell the truck with all that stuff on it.

They only want what was on your window sticker. Everything else doesn’t matter.

Come on down to KY and I can take those wheels and tires off your hands and hook you up with some stock wheels.

Another option is Carmax. A buddy of mine got a good offer from Carvana, but they were going to take 6 weeks to pick it up (2020 Honda Pilot). He called Carmax and got an offer $3k above Carvana. He drove 20 minutes to the nearest dealer and got a check right there.

Depending on where you live, you can sometimes reduce your sales tax burden on a new vehicle if you’re trading something in. Some states it won’t matter but here in Texas you can save a lot of sales tax trading in. Have to compare to how much you’ll gain selling privately.

In Michigan you save around $400 on sales tax when you trade in a vehicle. They subtract $7k from the sales price of the new vehicle before calculating the sales tax.

I second CarMax and the only one in Michigan happens to be in Grand Rapids. Sight unseen their Internet cash offer was higher than anyone else for the Tacoma I just traded in. The Toyota dealer matched the CarMax offer, albeit reluctantly. I also spoke to the Velocity Motors dealer in Grand Rapids that has a Tundra I was considering and he said CarMax and Carvana are the highest and the rest of the dealers have significantly reduced their offers.

What is the 7k based on?
I have done multiple deals, and was told Mi doesn’t allow it. Hmm

The dealership offered me zero dollars more for the $7k in upgrades, including the OEM upgrades that I had on the Tacoma that I just traded in. I went home and took them all off, I’m not into that type of charity!

I checked Kbb true value for trade and your figure was right at the middle, so yes, that would be about right.
