I haven't accomplished much in awhile. Today I extended the rear differential breather with the ARB kit. I know it can be done much cheaper but I hadn't done this before so I wanted a complete kit. Turns out it's ridiculously simple. I will probably run the front/trans/transfer case to the same place.

Went out to do truck things. If you look close you can see the Rubicon waiting up top for the Tundra to make sure it's okay.

If I end up with another dent on the bed it's coming off and I'm putting on a steel flat bed.

I had a terrible tick from under the hood. I was scared I had cracked a manifold or worse. After a little looking around I found the hoses to the vapor canister had slipped off.

So, boys and girls, the lesson is if you have an annoying tick check your vapor canister. Sometimes it really is something easy.

Upgraded my stock headlights to LED today. We'll see how it goes but the stock bulbs were awful so I expect it should be an improvement. These are the Auxito LED bulbs in the oem housing.

It's been a little while since the Tundra got any love. Today I installed a hidden winch mount from AMP'd and a Badland Apex 12,000 lbs winch. I also added a set of recovery points from 4 Crawler.

Good. They definitely do better than the stock headlights. I'm sure I could get similar, possibly better, results with a quality halogen but these are doing the job.

When I added the winch I had to remove my light bar. Today I installed some smaller light pods alongside the winch. The lights are from superbrightleds.com and plugged into the harness I already had wired up for the light bar. I had to build the brackets out of some steel channel. I didn't get pictures of the brackets before I installed them but that's for the best. I'm not opening a machine shop anytime soon.

Honestly, they are a little underwhelming. At least my switch isn't useless now.

Did you have to cut the bumper or shroud or valance or anything to get that winch in? Beautiful truck!

Both the bumper and the valance. It was actually fairly simple to do. It just took some time to work up the nerve to make the cuts.

That looks cool as heck, but my OEM bumper is PRISTINE so I’d almost rather do a paint-matched can opener and save the bumper or sell. Looking forward to further posts from you! What’d you end up doing about your surface rust? Any pics? Asking for a friend…

Unfortunately, nothing so far. The good news is it hasn't seemed to progress. I really need to get it taken care of.

@Gungoboom Not sure how I missed this thread, sweet setup! Wondering if you would be interested in selling me your running board hardware? I have a paint matched set and that's my missing link.

Every time this thread gets re-bumped to the top of the list, I end up seeing this one picture and get one of those Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom narrator voices in my head, like, "Ah, and here we have the Tundra FirstGen-icus in its native habitat, coming out from behind a tree. What a marvel..."
