Good advice. I have his 8”. Hopefully he may have some tips on what could be going on.

I feel your pain. My cats were stolen in Mansfield, TX from my gated apartment complex early January. Still waiting for my replacement cats at Toyota. Also ordered the protective plate from Toyota. Cats have been on back order forever. I had received word that they had come in and were being replaced 10 days after I took my truck in. Then I get a call that only one came in. I'm pretty sure someone snagged my second cat for their work order. I't been a painful month and a half to be without my truck.

Update: Trucks just hitting Toyota with this issue are hitting a 3mo waiting list. Just confirmed Feb 28th they are finally releasing the my order to ship so another 5-10 days after that I may get my truck back.

Did they cut any wires? If not just make some down pipes where they cut and run around town like a mad man. If you get pulled over just exlain cats were stolen amd for them to get on the thieves rather than going after you for loud exhaust

Toyota needs to start installing them standard on trucks and Sequoias coming off the line, otherwise consumers may start looking at a different brand of truck.

From my daughter a while ago. I think they cut his fuel line? I feel bad for this person,, heck everyone that this has happened to!! I agree cut their hands off and lock them up for life!! This has to stop and until they show that the system is fed up with it this will continue!!!

    Dude came over from laredo
    West Houston
    Got his cats cut off
    Started it once
    Smelled like gas
Cut it off thinking it was the fumes dumping into cab
    Started it again, BOOM.

    Over 17K in damages!!!!

$830 is way too high and it's most likely just a front plate.

Hell yeah that’s insane. I personally couldn’t wait for a plate so I called my boy that’s a master tech for Toyota in N. Texas. I said do you know of a fab guy that can whip me up a plate or can you get me a plate? He said yes we have DE plates in the parts dept. I paid $200ish for it and asked him to put it on. Took longer for him to pull it around and put it on the lift than the install. Granted it’s covering 2.5 of the 4 cats…
    But still. Better than nothing

Who told you Feb 28? Mine's been at the dealer waiting on the backorder since October 14th. I was told Feb 12 was the day, but nothing showed. Called and harassed Corporate and was told new date was mid-March.

    What a pita.

My Toyota Rep and Burleson called and checked on shipment for me through their parts dept. The projected shipment date for orders, coming out of California I believe, was Feb 28. I can only hope that there are no delays on these. There are tons of Tundras waiting on Cats. Mine were actually supposed to have been in back in January but either only 1 showed up or another dealer swiped one of mine for their work order because I was told they arrived that morning and work would be finished that day but then received a call later stating only one arrived.

I remember wrecking a blade on a 14” band saw cutting through a weld. I’ve been wondering if some weld beads along the pipe would wreck the thieves chances. I guess I need to weld some exhaust pipe and go at it with a sawzall and see.

My Co-worker was told it would be a 4-5 month wait from Toyota.

Got aftermarkets plus a FlowMaster $1200 and got stolen the next day while grocery shopping at HEB.

My truck OEM catalytic convertor date is pushed back for the 4th time at Fred Haas Toyota World (est. mid April). I have been waiting since November. Anyone got their parts in yet?

Mine were stolen mid October. I've been given too many ETAs to count, latest was today. Haven't heard back from service department so I am assuming nothing arrived. These assholes aren't interested in ensuring the success of the dealership service and parts desks, only sales of new units.

    Anyone else have updates?

You can also get a converter protector at College Station Toyota, little farther of a drive but they may have them in stock. Houston has gotten so bad with crime. My coworker just had his F250 broken into, guys took a flathead into the door panel and popped the lock, stole nothing..... Feel for the guy since he has to get a whole new door.

FYI, just heard from the dealer. New date is April 8 for me (I'm not in Houston). There is new information on my end thouhh that the local warehouse is receiving 8 units, so they may arrive this week. I was never provided a number in any of my previous communications so this feels more accurate this go around.

    Good luck.

If Toyota had been honest up front I would have just gone with LTH and called it a day.

Lead times. I've been without the truck for 5+ months and I can't let it run any longer. If I end up with no option, that's plan b starting next Monday.

Yea I just stopped by Sterling McCall Toyota and he said their lead times are around 4 + months now vs 1-3 months before. Said they still have a truck there since December. He recommended going OEM if insurance covers it as those weld-ons were not designed for the Tundra. He had a few come back with codes and one person now needs a new ECU + Cats after using aftermarket.

very interested in going this route. what's the solution for emissions?

houston and surrounding has become a crime-ridden cesspool, and i would prefer to remove the temptation altogether.

I’ve been running Magnaflow aftermarkets since last summer after mine got stolen in May of last year about an hour south of Dallas. I only got them because of the long wait for OEM. At first, the dealer said it was a 2 month wait, and then I was told it was a 4 month wait. Once I got the Magnaflows, they worked great at first. So I foolishly canceled my order for the OEM cats and went about my merry way. This was after replacing the O2 sensors, fuel lines and EVAP purge valve line the bastards had cut.

About a month or two after installing them, though, the check engine light came on. My code reader showed a P0430 code - catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2. I cleared it and continued on for about another two months until the code popped up again. And while I can clear it, it’s now been throwing that same code too often for my liking. So I finally broke down and got back on the dealer’s wait list for new OEM cats. Dealer said it’s still a 4 month wait, but judging from a few of the comments on here it sounds like it may probably take 5 months.

Anyway, unlike the last time I ordered, the dealer now required my VIN and wouldn’t take a credit card payment. He said he’d call me once they get it in, which didn’t give me much confidence to be honest. Those of you who’ve recently ordered from the dealer, did you have the same experience?
