    Hi,
I was able to install a Kenwood DMX1057XR head unit with all the resources I found in this forum. :) Everything works great, except that I'm getting some video noise in the backup camera. I thought it could be engine noise, but it happens even when the engine is turned off. Any ideas? Thank you in advanced for your help.

Most likely the HD screen that is probably a 1080 resolution trying to display Toyotas OE camera resolution. The OE camera has to be <720 resolution.

That’s normal. Low res camera on a large high res screen. You’re going to wind up getting a lot more pixelation and grid lines.

I have the same HU. I find the image to be quite good with the OEM camera (and no audio noise either in case that's what you meant.)

Whenever I see noise like this in a camera, it's either the camera is going bad, or more often the video cable has a bad ground. They use RCA connectors (those yellow things) which are notorious for grounding issues. Check the connector at the back of the HU and make sure the outer ring of the connector is actually touching the receiving RCA female connector. I take a pair of pliers and LIGHTLY crimp the ring SLIGHTLY out of round. See if it mates into the receiving connector with a little more resistance and usually the problem is resolved, if not crimp a little more. LITTLE STEPS Do this for all the connectors in the video wiring making sure they are properly seated. Best test is find another camera and just plug it directly into the backup cam in. If it's perfect the other cam is bad. If both cameras exhibit the same issue, there's a possibility the HU has a possible problem! Good Luck, let us know what you find

Today I took the HU out and inspected all the cables. They all look well connected. The reverse camera was working fine before I installed the Kenwood HU. To test I connected a yellow RCA cable from an old VHS player and the image in the HU was perfect. I found a few videos about how to fix engine noise. I will try that even though the lines in my HU show even when the engine is off.
