    Cool! I have never seen a shellback hat! Only got a certificate in the merchant marines back in 2001 when I crossed the line.

    We got lucky and did the date line same time when I crossed the first time. Didn’t stay in long enough to do anymore ship deployments

    Where did you get the hat from and do you know if they have blue nose hats? I did some time under the polar ice cap up north way back when. While I wanted to go south of the equator I never got there.

    U.S. Army Vietnam Era Vet and current Merchy ship captain. We still initiate the Pollywogs at crossings on my vessels and make sure we get them the summons and certs. It's a tradition and most of them appreciate it.
