The discount in pasadena broke centercaps on the sequoia and moms infiniti.

i took mine off because i knew id have the wheels on and off a bunch for the brake work, but decided to leave em off until i paint the wheels.

    today:

    well, this is disappointing.

2nd coat did more, but 20 years of oxidation is too much. And thats the best one.

    too little, too late.

gonna take em off and try the torch trick.

That has been my experience with that too. Then it rains and it looks like you never touched it. Snake oil.

I used a heat gun in the past. It holds up for about a year then it gets worse then when you started. I have been maintaining some TJ flares like that for about 20 years.

It is magical black (@Darkness approved) durable surface coating that has infinite uses and is touched up easily if chipped or scuffed. Surface prep is the key. A degreasing and adhesion promoter helps make it last long time. And it's cheap.

I’m surprised nobody has come up with a matte clearcoat you can spray on plastic parts so the color will never fade. Something that will block 100% of UV rays.

My solution is to take an auto body class and learn how to do a professional paint spray. Old man has all the tools, I’ll just need to rent/buy a decent compressor.

I unbolted mine, cleaned them with dawn soap real good and then sprayed them black.

Yup^ I would do exactly that. Clean them up a lot with dawn and a spray of wax remover, light sanding, wipe with damp cloth, spray with Rustoleum bed liner in very light coats. Should cost you about $20

    A few tips-
When spraying bed liner go very lightly and move the can quickly. Shake that can constantly, I mean between each pass. It doesn't lay on like paint, it will glob and run and you'll be angry.

Do not under any circumstances dust the can. I throw away the can and open a new one when I'm a bit under half a can left. I have tried using a can in its entirety and learned that when you hit around 1/4 left it stops spraying and starts spewing. Throwing out half an $8 is better than having to start over.

When you wash your truck later, you'll not want to use any kind of sheep skin style wash miss on the bed liner. You'll snag a lot and be picking out bits for hours. Just hit it with a hose and it will come clean.

I only use it on non-metallic stuff like plastic when I'm bedlining, good results. Definitely rough up any smooth surfaces before bedlining.

Looking under the truck today, noticed the rear proportioning valve is gone. Guess they removed it when I had my brakes done? Brakes feel great, but seems unusual they never mentioned doing that bit of a mod.

Last month. I've heard of it being removed, but it didn't seem like something a shop would do during a brake job.

Is the OE LSPV an expensive part? I'd probably want it in my parts stash at least. They should have returned the dismembered organ to you.

You sure you didn't knock it off on a trail or it didn't rust off? I cannot imagine a shop just removing an important part like that.

Was it there before? I have heard of some 05-06 trucks not having them at all.

    Edit- didn't read far enough.

@Glock 40 come down the mountain please, let's pay this shop a visit. Bring the pick.
