Just a reminder to lock your tailgate when you lock and leave your truck.
My good friend being an adjuster at large body shop told me that he has
had a rash of ordering of whole replacement tailgates on Toyotas and the
cost is in the multi thousands. He showed me that an unlocked tailgate can
be stolen in 15 seconds with lowering it then using fingernail to remove
the metal keeper on the stop cables and thirdly lifting tailgate to the take
out notches (about 30 degrees ) and adios amigos. This going on in Nor Cal.

I guarantee it's the scrap metal bozos who operate out of their sisters back yard... I've seen those guys poking around houses and shit for easy scrap.

That was one of my first mods. But I do think about getting the hinge lock also. I just don't want one scratching up my paint.

Awesome that's the one I was looking at. It's not foolproof but it'll slow someone down enough, that hopefully they move on.

Does no one leave their tailgate manually locked all the time?

:amen: I've got one of the tailgate locking bands similar to the one posted above and a pop & lock, and I back my truck right up to the garage door so that even if it was unlocked the tailgate doesn't open far enough to remove.

No as I use the bed frequently enough to make it impractical.

Get the pop n lock. Super easy install. Takes about 45 minutes to make it all pretty. The convenience is awesome. Walking to the truck, hit the button, everything unlocks. Get home, hit the other button, everything locks. No worrying about if it's locked.

Trollrapala, if you spent money on the pop n lock, you're gonna love it.

The best "practical money" spent on mods so far have been pop n lock and esp under seat storage.

3/1.5 lift. TRD sway bar. Bakflip V1 cover. Fuel wheels w/BFG A/T.
Got the idea for pop n lock on another thread a few weeks ago. Hit up Amazon and it was here next day. Less than an hour to install and surprisingly simple! I've seen enough trucks driving around to know tailgates are being stolen!
