I'm about to custom make skid plates for my 2nd gen, like I did my front bumper...

What do ya'll recommend for light off-roading, I don't plan on doing many rocky trails, but it is a possibility

    1/8" (11 gauge)?
    10 gauge?
3/16"? (thickness of bumper skid plate)

Weight is a slight concern, will be adding custom sliders and 35s

I hit the rocks pretty hard and to my surprise the 1/8” front diff steel plate has held up. Sure it’s heavily dented and scraped up but it doesn’t need to be replaced, yet. Just make sure they’re properly ribbed or has ends that are folded to give it rigidity.

thats what I was thinking, the skid plate I put on my front bumper is 3/16, but I didn't reinforce it, I think with prober bracing 1/8" will do just fine

    Too many, but not enough....
I am a fan of overkill so I say go 3/16. The ones i got from Valhalla shield are 3/16 and i dont regret it, probably will never have to replace them. Already hit a few rocks and there isnt a scratch on them. In my opinion, a few pounds shouldnt make much difference between 1/8 and 3/16.....

    Not sure at this point.
Didn't get a chance to weigh the RCI 10gauge plates, but 10gauge felt extremely rigid and strong.

Thats what I would like to do, but just called one of the steel places and they don't keep it in stock, the other one I called wants an astronomical price for it

I might be going with 3/16 because its about $190 per sheet (4x8') and because some of the sheet will be going towards rock sliders so that needs to be strong as well

but still keeping my fingers crossed for the 10 gauge
