Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
So I might have been tailgating this 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Lt while we merged onto the highway (speed limit 75MPH). Then all of a sudden I hear his motor rev and he begins to gain some distance, I take this as a challenge and proceed to flog the motor to roughly 4500 RPM.

This "on ramp" is probably a 15% grade, and my AC is on full blast. I feel as though I was accelerating pretty well for the conditions, however troublingly, the Silverado was gaining some pretty good distance on me. To be fair I was not at the peak of the truck's performance, but to say the least I was Impressed by the Silverado and concerned about my truck.

****For any Administrators, let me assure you all was legal as we never exceeded the speed limit or drove in a dangerous manner. *****

What do you think? Did the Silverado likely have performance upgrades? I do not think it did, as an older gentleman was driving it and it looked stock stock.

I can post a video from my dash-cam if need be...

    Thoughts?

Yeah. You can make a stock diesel kick serious butt with little more than a tune. Of course that makes you belch black smoke, and defeats the longevity advantage. Did you see any smoke? Thats usually a dead ringer for a tuned diesel.

    Well....not the case anymore.
I can run a 100 hp tune with all factory emissions components in service. So most testing was getting 475 hp/900+TQ to the rear wheels. Today, it is not as evident as days of past where a tuned diesel would roll coal.

Realistically though, a factory 3/4 ton will pull away from a factory Tundra without a problem on a roll. A drag race, I'm thinking the Tundra would win hands down. Now a SC Tundra, it would win on a roll or drag with ease.

lol, it was a decent investment.

Honestly, I finally really got on it (to the floor) in my truck to get out of the way of traffic coming up on me and I have to say I was really impressed. Especially with the shifting.

Whenever anybody gets the jump on you, they get the advantage. You've got to have quite a bit more power than they do to catch them and overtake them in a short period of time. Now if they have more power than you, and they get the jump on you, it's over. But a chase is a race. So even if it was an identical tundra in front of you and he got the jump, it would be hard to catch.

First off, don't tailgate.:D I hate being tailgated.

Secondly, now you know you NEED this:;)
    https://www.magnusonsuperchargers.com/product-p/01-19-57-107-bl.htm

I agree it was probably a Dirtymax. I can't be bothered to look up curb weights, but 360hp/380 ft-lbs with 4.10's shouldn't be running away from 381hp /401 ft-lbs with 4.30's (assuming you have a 5.7 with tow package) If you have a 4.7L then yeah, I'm not surprised.

I had a 2016 Ram 3500 Crew cab dually with the max tow Cummins, it would kick sand in my 2016 Platinum Tundras face. The Tundra is kind of quick, but not a real speed demon, IMO. I've driven a Ram 1500 CC with the Hemi and the Hemi would flog the Tundra in a drag race, I was surprised at how quick the Ram with a Hemi was.

I heard the 3.91 gear option with the 8 speed transmission is rather "snappy" to say the least.

Oh fret not. I would still pick a Tundra over any other 1/2 ton. I don't like walking in the most unnopertune times.

I can confirm that - a friend had a 2014 8spd, it went fast. He also was quick to trade it B4 the warranty ran out. He now has a good 1/2 ton, if you know what I mean.
