    Hi all,

I'm new to this site and looking for some advice / guidance based off your own experiences with a 2007 model 6.5' bed tundra at stock height.
I'd like to level the truck or very close to leveling without touching the front at all if that's possible? I like the way it rides and hope to maintain the same comfort level but the back is just too high for my needs. That being said, here are my main questions:

    1) Can this be done without any adjustments to the front?
    2) How many inches would I be looking for in order to level it? I tried measuring and it appears to be about (35"/39") 4" higher in the rear (I think) if I'm wrong please correct me it may have been the way the truck was sitting in the driveway..
    3) If you've done this, what parts and brands did you use, were you satisfied, what would you have done different if anything?
    4) Is this a project to take on at home with a jack and 4 stands or is it highly recommended to pay a shop? (I'm not a full on mechanic but I'm handy and have helped in a mechanic's shop before for about a year, just never dropped / lifted anything)
    5) Anything else I'm not asking about but you think may be beneficial please let me know.
    6) This is my first Tundra and if there is any common stuff to know about them other than the emissions air pumps, any other random tips would be appreciated as well.

    Thanks

I think the differential is only about 2". 3" at the most. Thats why most level kits come in at 3/1. Something to consider. Lowering the rear may adversely effect your towing/hauling ability. I also don't know how you could do it without affecting the ride.

I think one of the most ride neutral solutions would be Bilstein 5100s up front on the middle setting. You'd get an ever-so-slightly firmer ride but improved handling on uneven terrain, as well as the leveling you are looking for.

I think I've heard of putting the leafs under the axel. Don't know how that works though.

Just put 750 lbs in the back! They are designed to have weight in the bed. But what Bob said is probably a better idea. To drop the rear end you would have to do a spring under drop which would make the front end way higher. Factory rake is around 2 to 3 inches. I've never researched it but based on the diameter of the axle housing and perches. I think a spring under would drop it 4 to 5 inches. Then it would be almost if not on the bumpstops and you wouldn't really have a truck that could haul anything. Try putting four to six sandbags in the back. I've got four in mine with 2.5/1 lift. The truck handles better, is better in the rain, snow and mud. Helps calm down the bed bounce on concrete roads to. Pull them out when you need to haul something. Pour one under the tires if you are stuck on ice as well. $30.00 mod that is super easy!

    Thanks for your replies guys.
bobeast- not sure what you mean by 2-3" but my rear diff appears to be pretty clear from what I can see unless I'm not understanding what your saying. Towing / Hauling I'm told will mostly be preserved, at least for my needs (which aren't for much weight) it will.

Law323- yes this is what I'm looking into mainly, it's called a flip kit with shock re-locator I believe. It allows you to reuse stock leafs but lowers about 4" in the rear only to my understanding. But was hoping to get some feedback from others who have done this and hear their outcomes.

Joeshaker- that sounds like an interesting idea but it wouldn't work for me for mainly 2 reasons. I wouldn't want to carry extra unnecessary weight, I need every bit of free space in my bed as I'm an electrician who carries things back there and I need to access them all the time.
