So I just had a shop put on my supercharger. He finally got it all back together and got the bully dog tuner hooked up. He said when he started it wasn’t happy and it sounded like it jumped a tooth on the timing. He said he wasn’t sure if it was manually turning over the motor or what happened. Has anyone had something like this happen after they put on a sc. my truck does have 215k but it ran perfectly before it went in and I never had any weird noises or anything. It just super sucks!

Thanks man. I need some good news to come my way. I thought I was getting it back Friday, it wasn’t done. Monday was a holiday, then Tuesday I find out that it doesn’t sound good when he started it. I’ve been waiting all day to hear from him and still nothing. I just don’t know how anything could happen to the timing. It didn’t even need to be touched. If he doesn’t get back to me today im going to have it towed to another shop.

    I know right….lol
I’ve already hit him up about the tune and getting the ecu flashed. I just hate to bug the guy. I’ve never heard of anyone have this kind of problem when the installed theirs. Plus I don’t know how manually cranking over the motor would make it jump a tooth and the timing. It doesn’t make since to me.

Hopefully the mechanic didnt romp around in it over the holiday weekend without the proper tune or drop a socket inside... worst case just sayin.

Otherwise I dont see how timing is effected personally. Worst case a really bad vacuum leak upon initial start up or something not connected.

I’m pretty sure he’s more professional then that.
I did just get off the phone with the actual tech working on the truck. He said that it didn’t actually start up. He said after the first basically the motor locked and can’t turn it a 1/4” each direction. The guy said he he got the camshaft cover off and it wasn’t anything to do with the timing. So now he’s going to the bottom to see what’s going on there. I suggested the flywheel or transmission he said he wondering that as well. I’m really hoping they didn’t drop something by accident. He said they would of seen it by now if they did. He said it’s his number one priority in the shop to get it running and back to me. I’m kinda stressing, but that’s what beer is for.

Sounds like something was dropped in the intake. Besides removing the stock intake manifold, you don't go into the engine in any way, so there's nothing that mechanically moves and also directly interfaces the engine. Even if the blower was totally seized up, the engine would still be able to turn over. I would think it would still spin backwards if something was dropped into a cylinder unless something got super fucked or something further down the line broke as the piston tried to go to top dead center and then abruptly stopped, which seems unlikely if it only did part of a revolution.

Good luck, be interesting to hear what it was. On the "bright" side at least you didn't do it, so it's entirely on them to fix it.

I would be stressed too, but it ran fine before it got to the shop, so the shop will make it right.

Yeah, it ran fine before going in. I know it’s totally on the shop. I just thought it would of been a simple process, that’s not the way it’s working out. lol
