Like an A$$ I jack knifed my utility trailer while backing in a hurry. The end result was that I pushed in the PS corner of my 21 Tundra SR5 rear bumper about a half inch in while scraping the painted bumper side (gouged as well) and a 2" piece of my quarter panel. I was thinking off using a come along to pull the bumper out prior to the expensive trip to the body shop to make like new. Was a slow moving accident and I am pissed the bumper bent so easily. Worried I might make it worse trying to pull it out!

You can “try” using a come along to pull it out - but I doubt you will be happy with the results.

I mean - if that’s all it took…the body shop would just offer that option.

Likely going to need to replace the bumper - if it’s into the bedside panel or rear bed panel - that’s some time there too.

I agree with the prior comment - it’s a 2021, fix it right. It’s not just a “cosmetic” concern if it’s into the bed - it’s a rust concern.

And yes - the bumpers bend easily…it’s all in the name of safety/energy absorption. When metal bends - it spreads the force of impact evenly versus passing it forward - like onto the frame rails (or worse into the cab). Works great in serious accidents - but makes minor things 10x worse…in the end though it’s probably better to have to pay a deductible a time or 2 more than you planned on than having to shop for a new truck because the frame is mashed - or living with a spinal injury from a tear end loss at moderate speed.

I used a come along to bend mine back when I got bumped and run but mine is also a 2015 Work Truck and I am just not that worried about the look though I do sneer at the bumper still every single time I walk past the truck too.

You need to measure 10 times and pull once carefully if you do try this and we need to see the damage too before saying try it or not too.

Things are not as they look from the top under there and the potential to make it worse is certainly there too.

If it is already borked though how much can you really lose trying to make it better?

A pic might be helpful...Also, you posted this in the wrong forum (is not a TRD Pro issue).

But, assuming you have the standard chrome SR5 bumper covers, you should be able to loosen the bolts for the mounting brackets and reposition the bumper cover. I bumped mine on a tree and pushed the edge of the bumper cover into the paint on the rear quarter panel, like yours. I was able to get the spacing of the chrome cover to the rear quarter panel to match the other side again. You can buy a new chrome bumper cover, but I am planning on just putting a painted cover on, which will hide the dent.

I saw the mistake but just thought I would leave it as it was more a general question and I did not expect to get called on it.

Guess I am just getting old but seems most questions I don't get come from younger people who have not been on the forum that long which I don't understand like the comment DUDE. My comment was only related to me posting on the wrong forum. My bad.

Sorry but you know I had to say it.
That looks like one small push to me too and why not try it yourself and if its a disaster get it fixed anyway before painting.

a come along should pull that right out if my experience is any indication.

just make sure it is attached firmly at both sides as mine pulled the post from the ground on my first try!?
I used a nylon Spanset sling around the bumper frame and just went slowly.
