I had one on my old 6.0 diesel for years without an issue. However, if the oil pressure on the 6.0 fades, the engine will not run.

I do have one, along with skid plates, to install on my next oil change.

For the folks using the Fumoto, did you use a crush washer when installing the Fumoto? I had on on my FJ but I don’t remember if I did! Thanks!

I used a standard Toyota blue drain bolt washer when I put mine on.

I just switched from 0-20 to 5-30 at 55k miles. :anonymous:

I just used the leftovers out of four different 5 qt jugs of various weights from various brands, and then some leftover quarts I had in the garage. It only came up to 7 quarts so I just used 1.5 quarts of the oil I just drained out to top it off.
I pulled the filter and blew it out with an air compressor and stuck it back in.
You think I'll be good for another 25k miles?

I switched to 5w-30 Summer and 0w-30 Winter, Castrol GTX Magnatec at 75,000. Been working like a champ. Changed every 5,000 miles using my EZ Drain Oil Pan plug and Jowett performance oip filter housing with Toyota filters. Oil comes out just a hair darker then it goes in. This was not the case when I bought it used with 69k miles on it. So far the Castrol has cleaned up the valvetrain pretty well and the 5w quiets it down a tad....

I heard that if you add a quart of ATF, it will clean the sludge out. Make sure that it is Amsoil though, it's approved for everything.

Actually, it would probably run for quite a long time. Maybe not the best idea, and some excessive wear would likely occur, but as long as it didn't drop to say around 4.5 quarts I'm almost certain it would continue to run. I personally had a beater once with a blown rear main seal, ran 90w gear oil so it wouldn't leak out so fast to avoid clutch slippage. Ran for a few thousand miles like that until the lobes on the camshaft were nearly gone. Fun experiment!

The stuff does not change viscosity even on hot days of stop and go traffic.
Guaranteed one year oil changes safely.
    Good pricing on Amazon.

I would only run the engine for an hour, without driving, drain and refill with a full compliment of oil flavor of choice.

I wonder if you can buy an oil cap that reads “5W-30”?

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I look at motor oil the same way as lubricating oil for a firearm.

When asked what the best oil for an AR-15 or M4 was the late, great Pat Rogers answer was simply: “Yes”.

The point being you keep the machine well lubricated and do it frequently. Most any modern motor oil that meets API standards or brand standards is amazing compared to what you could buy even 20 years ago. Motor oil is largely motor oil if you are changing it every 5K. I would rather change oil every 5K miles with a basic oil that meets Toyota standards than use an expensive extended life oil and run it for 15K miles.

With this in mind I run Mobil 1 Synthetic usually because I can buy 5qt jugs for a reasonable price, and use a Mobil 1 filter because I like the screw in drain plug in the kit. Then I change the oil approximately every 5K miles +\- 500 miles.

Quantity has a quality all of its own.

As an amsoil dealer - I agree with the rationale that any oil that meets the requirements and is changed every 5k will be sufficient. I use amsoil because I make enough profit while still discounting pricing to friends and acquaintances to pay for my tundra and ducati lubricant changes.

I have been running Mobil One 0W-30 year-round. Wyoming winters get to -20F, and summers to 100F. My 2011 Tundra 4wd is TRD Supercharged, and I tow a travel or utility trailer at times... hills, higher elevation, 70 to 80mph speed limits, and some off-roading. I get oil analysis by Blackstone labs and change oil at 7,000 mile intervals. The owner's manual does include a statement that covers using a higher viscosity if conditions require.

Tried them all and about 2 years ago i was going to pull a large camper. In the middle summer from florida to Pennsylvania. Iran castrol gtx classic 20w50. Smooth quiet no issues to and from. I been running it now over 36k miles changing at 7k. Still getting 14 mpgs with a 275 75 20. 2015 tundra 278k on the clock.

I used Pennzoil Ultra 0w20 this last oil change. Engine seems noisier than it did with the Mobil1 AFE. Thinking of going with 0w30 or 5w30 next change to see if theres any difference
