Noticed items are listed for Prime, yet not 2 day shipping. They ended it...

I called and complained. They tried blaming it on pandemic. I replied we are 1.5 year into it and that was irrelevant. They tried to get me to cite a specific item that did not arrive on time. I replied that my complaint was that 2 day was no longer even offered.

    I got $20.

    Just FYI, be vocal.

I have more than a half of a year left of my membership, I will be evaluating whether I continue or not.

I believe you may cancel now and get a prorated refund. I live in the city so I still get next day and 2 day delivery for some items.

They haven’t guaranteed 2 day delivery in quite a while. I’m pretty sure it was before the pandemic even. At some point it changed to being guaranteed to ship out within a certain time frame, not arriving in 2 days like before.

I just checked and I still get 1 or 2 day shipping and guaranteed delivery dates

I'd guess where you live and what you buy has a lot to do with it

I was shopping things Yesterday and was getting a whole week turnaround for items they said were in stock?

What is the point of that aside from the other "Perks" of Prime ?

I love it when I am in a store in person and they dont have what I am looking for and they tell me that they can order it for me as a solution? I like being able to say that I can just order it myself from the parking lot and get it in a day or so but now........

And add to this the prospect of being delayed or mowed down by Amazon just trying to drive down my street!

No issues with my 2-day shipping, just placed an order this morning and it’s still valid for my address. Walmart has been trying to compete in this area as an alternative, but I still prefer Amazon.

For me 2-day shipping has been a curse…my wallet empties much faster! :spending:

It varies with me. Everything Prime ships the same day or the next day, but it doesn’t always show up as fast as it used to.
Some things arrive the next day, some take 3-4. I actually had one order show up the same day on a Sunday. Guess it depends on which fulfillment center the product comes from. There’s actually a new Amazon warehouse being built within 15 miles of my house, so I’ll probably start seeing a good bit of improvement.

Having one Amazon warehouse <1mi from the house, another 5-6 within 30 minutes, and also being <1mi from an airport used by PrimeAir it's a total crapshoot, but has been for the last year. Some items I'll have within 2hrs of ordering, some same day, some next day, and some, even though they come from one of the within-30-minute-drive warehouses, will take 3-4 days

I ended mine several months ago; without trying to get political, I have/had issues with the fact that many web providers (not just Amazon) would arbitrarily cut off web service for someone while far more disgusting stuff happens on Facebook, on AWS, etc.

This to me just confirms that it's not worth paying for. It'd be nice to have, but there's nothing they provide that I *have* to have.

I dunno, perhaps we've grown to accustomed to getting things unreasonably quickly. Waiting a week for most items bought online should be fine and it wasn't that long ago when 2-day standard wasn't around for Amazon prime. My biggest complaint with Amazon is with how many fake products get sent out.

Good. I hope they screw up their shipping. It's too fast and easy and cheap. No seriously. I despise all these civilizational wreckers (tech bros) but mom and pop shops have primitive shipping (if they ship at all.) I really need am azon to start sucking so I'm more motivated to stop using them instead of looking around for a local option. Please save me from my own impatience and laziness! lol

edit: I even had to put a space in ama zon so I didn't end up advertising for them. Not sure how they turn the word into a link to them...

    I agree, actually.

A great example was last year. It's not like I'm some prophet, but I sort of saw what "might" happen in early February, and bought three things:

    - a pretty decent amount of toilet paper
    - about 100# of flour, 50# of beans, etc.
    - a bidet (lol)

Two months later, you couldn't find that stuff hardly ANYWHERE, including on Amazon....where it seems like damn near everyone was going. If you focus on a huge corporation like that providing stuff for you in many facets of life...and suddenly they CANNOT provide...what do you do?

The 2 day shipping time to pot a long time ago. But it isn't just Amazon.

For example, UPS on small stuff now drops it off to USPS - Dennis Kirk (motorcycle parts retailer) is about 1.25 hours from our house. They used to exclusively shipped with UPS, and UPS ground was ALWAYS next day because we are so close (MNSP).

Last month I placed two orders from Dennis Kirk before 10 am on day 1: one large item (package size wise) and one with 5 smaller items. Package 1, UPS package, arrived the next day (day 2, so next day). Package 2 started with UPS on day 1, transferred to USPS on day 2, sat at USPS until day 4, transferred to another USPS location on day 5, delivered on day 7.

Walmart+ has been hands down better

We’ve had issues shipped with Prime in my area.

Most Prime orders shipped are being shipped USPS and come 5-7 days after ordering. If the package fits in a mailbox it gets delivered. If it doesn’t, they leave the slip where we have to drive to the post office to pick it up.

I’ve complained multiple times, but was told that Amazon has a computer algorithm that chooses shipping based on cost to your particular area.

Amazon, Summit, and McMaster are usually one to two days for me inherently; if it takes longer, big deal, if it's that important I should've somehow sourced it locally anyways. Usually the issue comes when literally anything is shipped FedEx, then it seems to go to every state except the one I live in for two weeks lol

For .ca, I get Estimated and Guaranteed dates, depending on the item.

The moment I get an email or notice of "Guaranteed Deliver Date", I save it. They are known to change it a day or 2 later. If it shows up after the first Guaranteed date/time, I jump on chat or email and get $5 credit every time. Even if it's an hour late, I do it as a Guarantee is a Guarantee. So if it shows up at 9pm and they said 8pm, I get my $5.

What happens to me is that when I track the progress of items, I can see that the item will pass my place going one direction, then the next day or two, pass in the other direction ping-ponging past my place a couple times prior to going "out for delivery".

Depends on the item and it's current location in relation to you. They still guarantee a time but may be misleading when advertised as "prime" and not 2 day "prime". kind of a waste of your membership. I've also caught them where on my non-prime business account an item was $0.88, free shipping on orders over $25 or $35 or something like that, then my personal prime account the same item was $5.99 shipped "prime". I just waited till I was over the minimum threshold for stuff and ordered non-prime still with free ship for cheaper. Obviously lead time wasn't critical. Lots of times now there's local opportunity to buy cheaper and a-mo-zon so it's really only a convenience of delivered to door and not shopping around or making a trip out.

    Too many, but not enough....
I can still get most items next day in SoCal if we wanted. My family orders so much from Amazon, that we now do the amazon day deliveries on saturdays. We honestly felt bad for the drivers stopping at our house almost every day and the sheer amount of cardboard we were accumulating was scary.

    100% agree.

I don't mind stuff taking time to ship, I remember when ordering anything online meant a 4-6 week wait. Or worse- remember mail ordering stuff? If I need anything immediate I run out and buy it.

The shipping time is very scattered now, more so than before. Some things I order still get here in 2 days or less, other things get here later but their estimated arrival dates are still pretty accurate. Maybe its because I live close to a hub but I don't see a real problem here, its very similar to when California stopped giving out free bags at grocery stores and started charging a nickel per bag. We got free bags for so long, which stores were buying, and we had the nerve to be upset that now it is a separate charge.

I'm a lot more bothered by the cheap or even fake stuff that is sold. The fake (or some argue lesser grade) Denso parts for example, or I have seen reports of fake Etnies shoes recently.

Try living in Alaska where everything takes a 10 to 20+ days and 20% of the time is lost. I’ve considered canceling as well but don’t have the luxury of running down the street to grab something since we have very few choices or no alternatives here. Other “online” retailers don’t like Alaska either.

Take Sparks Parts for example, last time I tried ordering a few things, shipping was quoted as $300. Or try ordering some Bilstein 6112/5160 where shipping is $150. Or a roof top tent that you’d think are all over the place up here….don’t even ask what that costs to ship.

There are quite a few people up here that make a business out of driving to the PNW, loading up gear and driving back and selling them for a massive profit in Alaska…cars, utility trailers, OEM parts, furniture, you name it.

You also can’t find a single used Tundra topper in Alaska since nearly everyone that purchases a new one up here keeps them. Hard to swallow the cost of ordering a new one + shipping here too.

Sorry for going down the rabbit hole but living here is amazing but definitely lacks many of the lower 48 luxuries/privileges…rant over.

I've noticed two-day shipping being unavailable to me on lots of Prime items, recently. I'm in the middle of the country, and we have a huge Amazon facility in my area.

I just bought two in-stock, Prime items yesterday. One says it'll arrive tomorrow, the other, Thursday. Neither shows as having been shipped yet, though...
