    Probably the majority of guys running 35's will tell you that the stock 4:30 gears are fine for 35's. Their are numerous people including myself that think the truck will perform at its peak with a re-gear after upgrading the tire size. The engineers designed the transmission and diff gears to operate with a particular tire size. When that tire size is altered, the engine and trans suffer when the diff is not re-geared accordingly. I would strongly recommend the re-gear if it falls in your budget. Hope this helps with your decision. Contact Dirty Deeds if possible for more info.

    That puts you at about 32.8". No you don't have to worry. It's for 37" tires.

    Hey Phil, if I read your tire size correctly, looks like the height is not much over stock, mainly wider. I think you are fine with the OEM gears.

    New tundra owner here, is the concern with re gearing the differentials due to the weight of the wheel or the diameter? My thought is the weight is the concern so if you run lightweight rims and tires would re gearing be necessary?

    I'd say both but more the diameter. For 37's, you can find the lightest wheel and tire combo out there but will still want to re-gear. And welcome to the forum bud.

    @CM-LENNY Hey I'm hoping you still get this message. I love the fab work! I just got my tundra and plan on putting 37" on too. This thread most people are discussing gears, but I'm wondering, how did you fit 37" with a stock UCA without a BMC? It seems most have to do a BMC with only 35". Just curious.

    You need as much positive wheel offset as possible. He used the stock wheels which is as best as it gets (eg. +60mm). Then you need skinny 37" tires, which are usually ~12.5" wide. After that, when getting an alignment, max out your forward caster.

    But if you just simply read his first post in this thread, he outlines everything he did.

    Another concern is the diameter of the 37" tire. Not all are really 37". Some are closer to 36" in actual measurement.

    What's up Kris!?
    Yeah, in his first thread he doesn't mention anything about caster or pushing caster all the way forward. So I am curious about what caster numbers he was running. He also says no rubbing, that surprised me too because I would have expected that size tire to rub the sway bar at full lock with that wheel offset.

    So with 18' oem trd wheels, instead of doing the modification to the uca,can I just use a small wheel spacer to clear the 37s?

    You could but then you risk having some rub on the body mount and possibly the front bumper. I wonder if an aftermarket UCA would prevent the need for adding a spacer and the need of trimming the stock UCA?

    I just got my 2015 tundra SR5 4x4 5.7 . O believe it has 4:30 rear gears. I was told those are good I drove 3 hours away from home and drove smooth. I didn't smell anything burning and truck drove smooth on the highway at 75mph -80 pmh. I got around 11mpg going and coming home to Corpus Christi. If I change the rear gears to 4:88 what do I have to change also the front gears and transfer case too? And will that be okay to drive on the highway at 80mph? Please let me know what you think friends my first lifted truck ever and I'm kinda clues I'm sorry to say but I do need all the advice .also I'm on disability so I ain't got much money left out my monthly check after payment Truck Payment, Warranty's and Insurance.. thank you all again.

    @codename607

    when you buy uca (I run spc) they actually have less room than oem uppers. I’m on 37x12.5x18s with 1.5” spacers up front for clearance. Could prolly get away with 1” ones. I also did the bmc for reference and this is a 4” lift

    Edit* I should add, this thread and op are the reason I went 37s :) thanks op who no longer is active on the forum haha.

    You’ll need to swap both front and rear gears.

    Do you think it would be possible to mount the 37x12.50 on the factory TRD +60 wheels without a wheel spacer and without modding the UCA? On a 2.5 level...
