I have a 2019 DC TRD Tundra with 26000 miles and one accident that was repaired. Sticker was 44k and I paid 37k. CarMax offer is $38200.

I am looking at a 2021 Army Green DC Trd sport for 47k. I'm guessing it's impossible to get the dealer down much at all since my buddy only got 3k off the CM TSS he just bought. But these people nearly identical army green DCs for sale. Going to CarMax tomorrow to get it appraised in person and left a message for the dealer. If they can get me to 44k and CarMax gives me $38200, my payment will basically stay the same but now I get blind spot monitoring, front and rear collision defection, upgraded rims and tires, anti sway bar, remote start, and car play. Really hope this works out since I'm excited.

I believe that's only part of it. On a deeper level those peoples actions tell me that the dollar is worthless and they intuitively know it even if they can't articulate why. Prepare wisely.

I have the appointment with CarMax today, I'll see if the $38200 actually comes to fruition or not. I am trying to get this dealer to price me out one of the two army green DC TRD sports but they keep trying to get me to come in.

I wonder what the dealer would do for a trade in. My understanding is you only pay sales tax on the difference between the traded in truck and the new truck. If that is the case and I ended up with a similar offer on a trade in to the dealer, I could just pay MSRP for the truck they want and me on my way with the same payment. I don't really need the extra features or color but I would like them if I can make a deal. Stay tuned I suppose.

Carvana is offering me 54,394 for my 21 Limited Nightshade edition with 10,700 miles. Limited premium package, some other dealer addons.

I plan on checking my local Toyota dealer to see if they will beat it. Id order a 21 4runner through them if they can match or beat Carvanas offer to save on sales tax. Otherwise ill sell it outright to Carvana and get a beater until values normalize.

The CarMax appraisal came back the same as the internet offer.

Can anyone give me an idea on what I could maybe expect on a trade in at the dealership? If they gave me the same for a trade in, I could pay sticker for the new truck and my payments end up the same. Or if they sell the truck for under $3k the msrp (which seems unlikely but they have two green DCs and these aren't popular here so who knows) and I sell my truck to CarMax, that works too.

Any idea how quickly you get the money from CarMax too?

Traded my '16 Tundra 1794 (few upgrades, left them on) with 77K miles for a '21 Sequoia TRD Pro. Trade value was too stupid not to take advantage of it and loan rates are better now than when I bought the Tundra. Full story is on this site at the link below but bottom line is dealer offered me $37K in trade, my loan remaining was $22K. I think Carvana was offering me $28-29K which was not enough to make this work for me (no real change in payment). Too crazy a deal not to take it.

Is this happening in Canada too? Most of the big money trades seem to be in the US.

Didn't work out. CarMax offer was $38200 but dealer trade in was only $30k. They also wanted $795 for anti bacterial treatment fee, $395 dealership fee, and $2500 market value adjustment. So a $46600 TRD sport double cab became $50k+. Ended up just leaving.

I got a trade in quote from both Carmax and my local Toyota dealership for the same amount 45K. Seems a bit low compared to the prices I saw on the lot. Comparable options started at 50K only only go sky high after that. But it feels like I leaving too much money on the table.

This is one of the primary reasons I just purchased a new tundra recently. Inflation is getting out of hand and the future looks bleak. Considering how much uncertainty there is right now, even with the redesign incoming, it was now or never in my mind.

Not trading it but 2 months ago local dealer contacted me and offered me $43.800 Canadian for it .

    2019 CM SR5 Plus 4x4 , 58,000 kms

purchased the truck in July of 2019 for $39.990 , would love to turn a profit and upgrade to a 3/4 ton domestic but there is no other truck out there that matches the quality and reliability of the Tundra IMO.

2021 LR pro. Got the offer for 61k from vroom, 60k from carvana and 60k from carmax. Used those offers to get 60k from the dealer and cut a deal for a 4runner at msrp with a couple freebies.

from taco to tundra to 4runner over 2 months, i ended up getting back roughly 15k over my cost all in. The way i see it now, i am paying 29k for a brand new 4runner trd orp and got a taco for 2.5 years for free with a tundra trd pro loaner for 2 months.

2016 SR5 TRD CC, 42.5k miles. Originally $37.5 K. I was offered $37k 2 weeks ago. Took the offer and drove off with a 2021 Platinum CC, couldn't be happier. Reliability and resale value were part of reasoning of originally buying a Tundra. Decision paid off, and I have a new Tundra to drive while the bugs are worked out on the next gen Tundra.

I wonder too…I feel that the 4Runner was a step down. Especially in the comfort department-2017 T4R SR5 vs 2020 SR5 OR in my case…

Just did it now for shits and giggles. 2020 SR5 TSS 10k. Carvanas price 38,125. It’s low by comparison considering I was just at the dealer and saw a 19 SR5 for $51k w/20k miles.

That was my dilemma. Can’t beat the Tundra for reliability. It just was too undersized for my needs. If only Toyota made an HD truck….

I did it for fun and 44,100 was the Carvana number for my longbed DC 4x4 SR but mine is still new IMO with 15 miles.
    I paid 39K

I find that Carvana is iffy depending on location. KBB was more and AutoNation offered me even more. Kept hounding me actually. I decided to simply re-fi my 14 and now saving $167 per month with the same number of payments left. Saved $3400 in interest. A coworker just traded in his Taco. Lots of upgrades done to it. I forgot to ask what he got for trade in on his new slow white 2021 AT4 with Rancho shocks, puny 5.3, and cylinder deactivation. $51K. He threw on a S&B cai and is bragging about how much more hp he gets. LOL. He bought the AT4 this past Saturday! He said he always wanted a full size pickup. Didn't want the "outdated" Tundra, thought the new Tundra looked stupid and wanted a V8. His girlfriend apparently traded her Taco in on a new 2021 Taco Pro in Army Green this past Saturday too. She's wearing the pants obviously in that relationship. Hasn't the 5.3 been around long enough to be outdated? Whatever.

I was doing for fun. I am not going to trade in any time soon or until the lease it up. Then I will decide weather to buy it out or release a new one depending on this crazy market. As for the AT4, don’t even get me started. I left Chevy after a failed Tahoe and Traverse. GM is nothing but garbage nowadays. The cylinder deactivation is a joke that will ruin the engine and the 5.3 still has less hp and tq when compared to a engine that has been around since 07, what a joke. Not to mention their ongoing problems with their garbage Hydra-Matic transmissions. I am sure that the CAI gave him like 10hp and the sticker that came with it gave him 20hp. Most of those CAI are aluminum (heat soak) and draw air from the engine compartment. Not to mention they are pretty much worthless without a tune. But I digress and just stay away from them.

I paid $25.4K for my 14. Two years ago this coming July 4th. AutoNation was hitting just under $28K over the phone! This was after I sent pics and stated that it had 124,400 miles on it! That was to buy it outright! Nutz! I like my 14 but really wanted a good idea what it's worth now in this crazy market. No GAP needed with re-fi. That's a first. Turned down extended warranty. Three Yota trucks in a row. Always paid for the extended warranty. Never ever used . Not this time. Better to salt away $ for any major possible repair. No cam tower leak. Not worried at all. "My AT4 came with Rancho's"....ha....ha...
