Mobile 1 oil filter comparison

I use Mobile 1 Extended Performance for my oil filters and saw that Mobile 1 went from part # M1C-453 to M1C-453a. What was curious, was the metal banding on both ends went away as well as the manufacturing location changed. The original part is made in the USA with Orange O-rings in a sealed bag, the filter itself has metal banding like previously mentioned. Now the new filter has no metal banding, made in South Korea, and O-rings in a zip locked bag along with the instructions. Anyways here are the pictures for references:

Newer one more closely mimics the original Toyota filters. Nothing wrong with it as long as it’s not easily smashed by squeezing it.

 

The one with the metal on top and bottom looks like OEM TRD FILTER, the one without metal looks like OEM regular Tundra filter. I only use OEM Regular no metal , every 5000, with Mobile One 5W20, EVERY 10,000.

 

I didn't know you can change the oil filter without draining the oil. I do both every 5k miles, using 0w-20 though

 

That's the mileage I change mine at also, can I ask why you use the "extended performance" filter over just a stock Toyota filter?

 

Yes, the first filter is just like the OEM TRD filter. Anyone see the new Mobil 1 extended performance that lasts for 20k miles GUARANTEED. Anyone black stone at 20k yet?

 

The auto parts dealer right next to my work, usually doesn't carry the filter for the tundra, so I just go with the Mobile one filter. They always have a deal going on where you get 5qts and a filter.

 

You’ll probably have to search BITOG for that level of oil-geek. I bet most of us are too OCD about our truck to go much beyond Toyota’s recommendation. Heck, I run UOAs on all my oil changes and still cannot go 10k miles

 

Running one of the best oils , and 8-1/2 Qts of it , can easily run 10,000 miles on oil , and at 6.00 a pop for OEM filters at toyota , and 15 minutes to change filter only, I'll keep mine at 10,000 mile intervals , and filter every 5000. One Question I haven't seen discussed much is Spark Plugs, what are some opinions on which ones , and how often? I'm at 83,000 , and runs great.
