I purchased a new tundra last month and couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ve been reading up on this forum for hours sourcing lots of useful information.

I pulled the trigger on the toytec 3” Boss lift with the rear shackles. I had my mechanic install it in about 6 hours. I briefly drove it with the stock tires and it drove like a dream /stock. I am going camping shortly so I will update my thoughts.

With the new lift, riding on stock sr5 rims, I looked like mr.chicken legs. The Falken wild peaks weren’t my first choice, but due to inventory and price I said why not. They’ve got good reviews and can’t be any worse in the rain then my KO2’s I had on my Tacoma! (They were nice, but I didn’t see the hype). I went with 295/70/18 and yes, it drives like a tank. That being said, nice handling and quiet on the road. As far trimming went, we removed all the flares on the front, and one cut and tuck with the inside lining.

I like blacked out trucks so I went with the fuel shoks. I went with a plus 20 offset and that seems to be just the right amount of poke. Maybe 2 inches.

not overly insightful of a post, but perhaps I can update on my thoughts once I venture some different weather and terrain!

Looks good. Those Falkens are pretty popular...definitely a better tire than the KO2.

Looks great. I have had wildpeaks for a few thousand miles. Very nice tire. Great wet and dry traction, stable and quiet for the design on the road and even though they are heavier than the previous tire I ran on the truck in the same size, I get better MPG with the wildpeaks. I would certainly purchase them again.

Post back with ride and handling review of the suspension once you drive it a bit.

I have had the wildpeaks on for about 1k miles and love them. Will definitely be going back to them in the future

Question about the shackles. Are they providing lift? If so, have the bump stops been modified? Reason I ask is because I am trying to learn if the truck is lifted with a longer than stock shackle and then at some point drops to the bump stop from flex or load, would that not put the spring in a compromising negative arch? I just don't get how you can push the spring down beyond factory design limit without causing it to become flattened. Please educate me if you can.

    Hey 2mchfun,

I am educating myself as I go too so you can correct me (anyone lol). The shackle is providing lift - yes. It’s connect to the leaf. Due to the lift, I replaced the rear shock too. The rear shock is longer I believe to accommodate the 1.5” shackles. You are also able to purchase a rear DuroBumps bump stops to replace factory. The mates at toytec said unless I’m going hard core and inclined to bottom it out, it wasn’t necessary

The shock is just a shock, can't support any significant weight. The question is now how does that aftermarket bump stop compare in height to the factory. I'm fairly certain if you put a load of any significant weight in the truck with the weak factory springs you will be on the bump stop in no time relatively speaking. At that point you are bottomed out and then the spring is going where it should not unless a taller bump stop is in place to stop it. Not sure what else to tell you. Not my truck so not too concerned, but I think you should be getting a better answer before you destroy your springs. Maybe someone else can chime in and educate further. I could be totally wrong, but I just can't see how a long shackle is not going to be bad without a bump stop modification.

I can see where you are coming from. I am not too concerned as I am planning to get air bags. I am a contractor and carry various loads. I will be sure to ask the friends at toytec to make sure all is sound. What are your thoughts on airbags to relieve the payload @2mchfun @Toytec Lifts

I'd like to recommend you look at the Roadmaster HD active suspension kit. Much better than any airbags that I have ever seen.

Home builder here too and I have lots of suspension mods. Have had well over a ton in the bed and 600 lbs of it was on the tailgate.

Yellow sumo springs, ranch hand bumpers, BDS traction bars, headache rack, Fat Bob's garage vated 3 1/2 coilovers, spc upper control arms, Ironman greasable shackles, carrier bearing drop, sway bar drop, front diff drop, front bump stop extensions, rear brake line relocate kit, shit lots of stuff. Plus seat covers and such inside. It takes a lot of money and work to build a good work truck in my opinion. Im about to drop another $1400 on tires next week.
