2021 TRD Pro or Platinum

Everybody always hating on super white, yet its one of the most common colors with a long standing fan base. Its almost like people that havent had the color think it will be trashed within a few years. I suppose if its as bad as everyone says you'd probably be seeing that on a routine basis in the super white thread. Yet, I dont think thats the case.

 

As the owner of an LR that waited 159 days to get it and was unsure of the color the entire time, I can assure you it is fantastic in person. That said, WC is gorgeous. If you like the Platty seats, amenities, etc, then get the WC Platty. That's going to be an equally rare spec, IMO. There's a fellow on here that has a WC Platty and added the Pro suspension, etc. It is an absolutely beautiful truck. Best of both worlds. I wish my Pro had parking sensors and BSM, honestly. My take - let the color drive your decision...

 

If I did that I would get the LR TRD Pro. I like unique colors. When I cross shopping with the new P4X Titan I would have got the Titan in their new Baja storm. I don't mind "losing" those, I don't have them in my CRV right now so it's not a loss. The only thing I'm losing is memory seats. My biggest need is seat comfort and ride comfort. Which from what I'm reading here the Pro has better ride comfort and platinum is a little better seating, and has that that thigh support controls too.

 

why choose one when you can have both

 

I turned my platinum into a “platinum PRO” a la TUNDRADUDE34. It was a labor of love. It has everything I need or want. Blind spot sensors and cooled seats are great and I would miss them. However if I was going new I’d get the Pro. The mods are something I would only do once

 

Between these two at this price I'd go with the Pro.

 

Does anyone know what the upgraded tires are in the "Tundra Value Package" for the TRD Pro is? It's $1399 and is an upgraded A/T tire and side steps. Curious what the tires are over the stock on the BBS.

Update: My original question was the Platinum vs White Pro. I asked the dealer about the Platinum final pricing and she gave me the breakdown of MSRP + TTL and then I saw $2000 for nitrogen and window tint. This wasn't mentioned and I can't justify that.

While making this original post someone from another site reached out to a lease inquiry I had a few months ago and is a sales associate at a dealer 3 hours away. He mentioned leasing is horrible and buying is way better and said he has a Black TRD Pro on order but it still has time to be changed. So last night I signed a deposit and sent over the request to change to Lunar Rock and to reduce some options (i didn't want the inlay, side steps, and pocketed fender flares, and protection package). This reduced the MSRP to around $56k + TTL. There's no addendum and no upcharge. The only caveat is the spec change, he's confident it can be done. It's written in the contract that if it can't be done that the deposit would be returned.

And at this point if I can't just get the LR TRD Pro, I'll prob just hold off until the 2022 model. Let's see what happens!

 

When I bought my truck in last December, it had the upgraded tires. They were Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I believe Goodyear Duratracs is also a possibility. It may depend on you area. I bought my truck in Tallahassee, FL.

 

Ah ok. I left it off since it was tires and the side steps and I didn't want the tubular and wanted an after market more flush step.

 

If you are not getting a 2021 solely because you want the previous Gen, or need a rig ASAP, then I would 100% wait for the 2022.

 

I like this current gen. I don't know what it is but the exterior is so well proportioned and the body lines are great and I love the LR color. Yes the interior is old and dated but it has enough technology to be "up-to-date" and I like the layout and ergonomics of it.

I only mentioned waiting for the 2022 because if this order doesn't get made then I'm SOL for the 2021 LR TRD Pro. There's no LR in inventory anywhere and the ones I can find are marked up. After thinking about it, this is what I'm set on getting and if it doesn't work then I would just wait for the 2022. I say that because I could probably get a platinum build into the 2022 but I don't think I could get the LR TRD Pro setup in 2022.

 

Well that was fast. Toyota denied the color change. I'm still searching but if I can't find a LR TRD Pro, 2022 it is. Should make you Pro owners happy that Toyota is keeping production numbers in check. They said they have to distribute color and won't do a LR change.

 

I finally found a TRD Pro to test drive but it was a 2019. Is there a material difference between 2019 and 2021? The steering wheel seemed big and was like a two piece with a seam running the circumference. Whereas the pics of the 2021 TRD pro it's wrapped and stitched. And are the seats different? The 2019 seats had pretty much no give and kind felt like I was sitting on them and sliding around. Is the 2021 the same?

 

I believe pros were based off of the sr5 until the 2020 model year when they switched it to the limited. Not sure what the difference in seats is between the limited and sr5 though.
