Awesome, I appreciate the feedback. I decided to just keep the charcoal filter out (since I already removed it prior to this post) and continue using the OEM filter that came with the truck. I'm going to return the K&N drop-in filter so i wont need to mess with the throttle body gasket. It runs really smooth just like that...no whistling, no issues. I truly believe that (BS) charcoal filter is better OFF the truck, even if it's a marginal improvement in airflow, I'll take it. Somebody asked me, "well why would taking the charcoal filter off void a warranty, when one could simply replace the entire air intake system and still be cover"?...I thought that was a good point.

I like it as well! I added the TRD air flow accelerator and the drop in TRD filter on my 17 but after transferring all of that over to my 20 plus a 8" BA muffler I don't hear it, although it is there.

Thanks guys! Did you also do the Charcoal filter delete as well? I already removed mine and kept the OEM filter...I'm reading different reports that say
'increased airflow will increase fuel consumption', whereas, others say that 'better air flow uses fuel more efficiently because the ECU regulates the mixture'...IDK i'm just an amateur lol. I also don't want to void any warranties so i'm confused

I cut my charcoal filter out of my Taco because I am on dusty dirt roads enough that it was getting plugged up even thru the air filter. Never noticed any difference while I owned it. I didn't know my Tundra had one. Its for absorbing fuel vapor while parked after being driven I think. The throttle body screen whistle i have heard.

Quite the "solution" to a problem.

So dust in the combustion chamber scoring up cylinder walls wasnt a concern then...

The solution was cut out the ruined charcoal vapor screen and more often change blow out the air filter. They do make dust snorkels that help. But by then I was sick of its stupid transmission and sold it.

A properly fitted air filter won't let dust get to the charcoal filter.

I removed my throttle body gasket(screen) and drove for 2 weeks. I noticed MPG drop, no passing gear to speak of, WOT sluggishness.
Actually the screen accelerates the air entering intake to give a rotating stream effect giving better fuel air mix. In fact removing screen has a restrictive effect . Also the intake gasket is to be replaced each time you remove Throttle body. The rubber crushes after proper torque. And will not seal properly if re torqued.

Not sure what the screen is actually for but the tundra and sequoia both have the 5.7. Tundra has the screen and the sequoia does not. Doesn’t make any sense.

I took mine off and replaced it with the sequoia gasket. No difference in driving characteristics besides the whistle being gone
