Hello all, I'm zeroing in on a '21 SR5. I'm new to today's Tundras, so I'm not 100% sure how each trim is optioned. I'm pretty excited since inventory seems to be low EVERYWHERE, and this one has many options that are important to me, but I'm definitely making a few concessions in my head right now on others.

So, Tundra lovers, I would like to hear what options are here that you appreciate and which ones are missing that I might miss having and why. Thanks!

(looks like the exterior details might be missing here, so I can confirm those if you're curious)

    This truck's options are:

Equipped with Convenience Package (Blind Spot Monitor w/Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Color-Keyed Rear Bumper, and Front & Rear Clearance Backup Sonar), Premium Convenience Extra Value Package (Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirror, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, Radio: Premium Audio w/Dynamic Navigation, Safety Connect, and SiriusXM Radio), SR5 Package (Front Fog & Daytime Running Lights, Illuminated Entry System, Rear Under-Seat Storage Compartment, and Sliding Rear Window w/Privacy Glass), SR5 Upgrade Package (38 Gallon Fuel Tank Capacity, Anti-Theft Immobilizer w/Alarm, Front Bucket Seats, and Urethane Tilt/Telescopic Steering Wheel), 4WD, Black, 18" Styled Steel Wheels, 3-Passenger Front Bench Seat, 4.30 Axle Ratio, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, 7 Speakers, ABS brakes, Air Conditioning, All Weather Floor Liner/Door Sill Protectors (TMS), AM/FM radio: SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Auto High-beam Headlights, Auto-dimming Rear-View mirror, Black Emblem Overlay (TMS), Brake assist, Compass, Delay-off headlights, Driver door bin, Driver vanity mirror, Dual front impact airbags, Dual front side impact airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Emergency communication system: Safety Connect with 1-year trial, Exterior Parking Camera Rear, Fabric Seat Trim, Front anti-roll bar, Front Center Armrest w/Storage, Front fog lights, Front reading lights, Front wheel independent suspension, Fully automatic headlights, Garage door transmitter: HomeLink, Heated door mirrors, Illuminated entry, Knee airbag, Low tire pressure warning, Occupant sensing airbag, Outside temperature display, Overhead airbag, Overhead console, Panic alarm, Passenger door bin, Passenger vanity mirror, Power door mirrors, Power steering, Power windows, Preferred Owners Portfolio (TMS), Radio data system, Radio: Audio Plus AM/FM/HD Radio, Rear reading lights, Rear step bumper, Remote keyless entry, Speed control, Speed-sensing steering, Split folding rear seat, Steering wheel mounted audio controls, Tachometer, Tilt steering wheel, Traction control, Trip computer, Variably intermittent wipers, and Voltmeter!

Most of the options you set and forget sow I don't really need many. But heated seats are nice.

After having a Tundra with the power rear window I would not buy one without it....

38 gallon fuel tank was the #1 reason I flipped my 2019 for my 2021. Don’t wait, trucks don’t last long anymore on lots.

Tailgate lock, bed liner, sr5 upgrade pkg. Console safe, step tubes, tint. Reason is these options make it a good base to use for work and play. Upgrade to HD suspension, add armor, tow mirrors, seat covers, and tires. Result... solid dependable all purpose truck. Maybe not the most bells and whistles, but that just makes it more reliable and cheaper to maintain.

Edit: add auxiliary transmission cooler, must have in my opinion.

Never mind reliability, longevity, this option alone makes the Tundra worth every penny more than other trucks cost.

And you can cruise on the Highway in 85* temps roll that sucker down and have no need for A/C and it is not crazy loud.

Without a doubt and I don’t have this option and it pisses me off as I fill up once a week.
I drove 900 miles yesterday to Florida and man it really pissed me off!!
Can’t wait to get the Transferflow added to this thing.

(Options (factory) that I have regularly appreciated)
    Power rear window
    38 gallon tank
    Adaptive cruise/front collision avoidance
    LED headlights
    Huge rear space in CrewMax

(Options that I wish I had)
    Apple CarPlay

And of course, the ability to customize your truck is nearly endless. The things I listed for options at the time of purchase would be difficult to install and more realistic to purchase at a trim/option level. Apple wasn’t an option at the time of purchase. I did wait a year to buy in order to have access to adaptive cruise.

I have had many vehicles with a sunroof and rarely open them up. Don’t have one in my Tundra and could care less....but I love my power rear window and drop it regularly!

(also have the large fuel tank...sorry man)

    Function before sparkle.
Power folding mirrors to the point I added them to my SR5. I use them every day to get into my garage. So nice to not have to walk around the truck to put the mirrors in when it's snowing.

By far, I like the beast mode and the little pedal on the right. Doubt I am alone on this.

I like my truck just as it is..SR5 TRD Sport with SR5 Upgrade package. Blind spot monitoring would be nice I guess, but I have never had it in a vehicle and have gotten along just fine. I use it basically as a commuter vehicle so the Sport suspension is nice. The most off-roading I might do is driving on the packed sand beaches of North Padre...and we have navigated those many time with our Honda sedans.

They started making tanks again for the Tundra?

Edit: i guess they do now, but $2k for it without any installation seems steep. I"d rather stop more often.

38 gal tank, also find the cross traffic, blind spot and parking aids helpful. Cross traffic has saved my ass a few times in different vehicles.
I like having a Tundra before the TSS stuff and like the manual climate vs higher trim dual/auto and love that my truck has a trans cooler.
Enjoy that tow/haul actually does something and is useful.
    power rear window
remote start- guess mine was aftermarket but it rocks. Awesome range and does not turn off when you open the door.

My truck has halogens, but think the factory LED headlights would be great to have.

Things I do NOT miss at all-
    sunroof
Nav in the vehicle- too easy just to use my phone

I wish I had the 38 gal. Tank. I fill up pretty frequently.

Bed liner is a must for me

Heated/cooled (cooled are less effective/important IMO) seats are great.

That's about it. Anything else I do is DIY or easy to do later down the road

Go to Toyota.com and “build” a truck. Will show you a lot of the options.

For me, wanted the bed liner, cargo lights, bed locking, led headlights/fog lights, sway bars, step bars.

TRD Sport had most already, and got a safe with mine. 51350A69-107E-4641-895C-2A4DCBB37996.jpg

In all seriousness why Toyota would put a 26 gallon tank on a gas-guzzling 5.7L truck is beyond me. Shouldn’t even be an option. :notsure:
I went 504 miles on my last tank of gas, ran it to “E”, and it took 32.6 gallons to fill up.

You've listed most of my must haves, but I don't remember seeing the power tailgate lock. I didn't get that, thinking I wouldn't need it. Then on our first vacation I had to take time to lock/unlock the bed so many times my wife asked me why I didn't get it.

I would say the bed liner, rear power window and the heated seats. Got to enjoy my DD exhaust during the winter with the rear window down and heated seats cranked. Lasted only a few minutes till the wife gave me the harry eyeball! o_O

I actually have a pallet jack that I could use, but honestly $2k is still $2k. I could just strap a few jerry cans if I need to go a longer distance and problem solved.

Power rear window, LED headlights, power locking tailgate, and rear sway bar. With and without the sway bar is a night and day difference in handling. LED headlights because I’m getting old, and the power tailgate and rear window are super convenient. Would never want to go back to a truck without them.
