I don't have flares, so my opinion is only based on my readings and research, but if flares are being added it is usually because the wheels have a lower offset than factory. This pokes the wheels out, and the factory mudflaps aren't really effective at that point. This I do know, because I have aftermarket wheels with a +25 offset wheel, and the factory mudflaps provide minimal protection from mud and/or stones.

I had to remove my mud flaps to put on the fender flares. No great loss in my opinion.

I put these on a few weeks ago. Really like the simple lines. Gave me just enough coverage. Installation was a bit touchy but not difficult. And yes, I got ppf down first :)

Did you use any additional fender flare trim like @70 FJ40? Or is just what was included with the flares? Also what ppf did u end of using??

The included rubber trim was sufficient for my installation. I found that if I over tightened some of the mounting screws the flares would buckle and pull away from the body. So I literally went through and tightened all the screws while watching my gaps the whole time. As for the ppf this was plenty

If you can find a smaller roll I think I only ended up using about 30 feet or so. If not you'll have plenty left over to do your door edges.

Yeah, I have +25 wheels as well. I just don't know if one would provide more coverage than the other. I just spent hours washing my truck today after a 6 hour trail ride yesterday and when I got home from the car wash I already had splatter on the side from just pulling out of the freaking car wash. I don't know if flares would help any more than the mudflaps, which apparently don't do anything. Maybe some of those RokBlokz flaps or something a little wider than the stock ones. Or maybe I just deal with it until I get out of the land of perpetual rain and back to SoCal where it won't matter as much.

Tires will kick up more than just wet stuff. Rocks, dirt, sand, etc. I think flares, if wider than the tires, will be the most protection from tire sling. It's basically like going back to factory settings with the wheels/tires fully inside the wheel well.

    Again, just my opinion.

Hey if it isn't too much trouble, Would you be able to take a picture so I could see how far the tires stick out past these flares? AWESOME TRUCK!!!!!

Hopefully this helps ya, my driveway is sloped so the rear tire is a bit angled upward. Wheels are Black Rhino Grange +12 offset with 295/70/18 ridge grapplers

I finally got my skinny flares installed!
I purchased them for $150 shipped from eBay!

Fitment was not perfect, but the use of washers underneath the mounting screws helped “fill-in” some the gaps caused while tightening.

The flares and rubber trim that were included are sitting flush against my fenders and I’m am pleased with the results.

good luck to those considering installing these!

Looks great to me :thumbsup:Washers with the screws is a great idea! I noticed they drive in too far on some when I did mine and it would very slightly cause a gap like you mentioned

Has anyone painted these flares? I really like the sleek look. Based on the reviews I’m going to order and test fit to make sure I can get them snug, then pull them and get them painted somewhere. Hopefully……
    Anyone tried this?

They aren't smooth and have a texture similar to the lower center of the front bumper, so that would potentially make painting more difficult.

ahh okay I see. I don’t plan on painting them myself. Is this something a shop would have trouble with? I (clearly) don’t know much about automotive painting.

line-x hmmm intriguing. I wouldn’t mind that considering they would likely take a pounding anyways with the new rims and tires

I had a question, so you guys said to to ppf if you do fender flares. I’m abit confused on where do you ppf? Do you ppf the fender flares or the surrounding area?
Also from the looks of previous discussion, the eBay extreme fender flares are basically eag right?

You put the PPF where the flares upper edge will contact your paint. It's an ablative layer to prevent this.

Yes, the ebay flares are basically the eag flares.

Hi mountainpete. The eBay link seems to be dead now, but I love the look of these flares. Do you remember if this was the same seller/flare? Sorry for the long link… newbie here and not sure how to shorten it.

Same seller. Not the same flare. They were also made/sold by another company (name?) it was discussed earlier in this thread I'd have to look it up.

Edit: I believe it was EAG

Got it. I saw some EAG but a quick google search wasn't returning the look I saw. I think it's the EAG Styleline flare for a Tundra that I'm looking for. When I google with 'styleline' in there, it comes up with a Walmart link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EAG-Fend...Styline-Series-Fit-for-14-20-Tundra/620247383

Do those look like a match?

    Those look right. Good find!

Edit: 'out of stock' :( but you've got a product name at least.
