In preparation for our first day 100+ deg, i had a local hvac company come out and give our AC system a tune up. Everything was good except that the tech said that the capacitor was starting to get weak. It was still within 4% (i think thats what he said), but close to being under. He said that it would be a good idea to replace it after summer.
He said its very doable yourself and thats what i plan to do.

I'm trying to find what a good brand would be to get. He mentioned Titan (couldn't remember if he said Pro or HD) and i've also heard Amrad or Mars are good ones.

He said that a 45+5 370/440 is what i need. Anyone have a good recommendation?
    Here's what's in there now:

    Too many, but not enough....
Can you just replace it with the same part from the factory, assuming it has worked well to this point?

Yeah, i guess i could do that. We got about 5 years out of that one with light/moderate use.

I'm always looking for things to upgrade :)

was just wondering if the tech told you to upgrade it, thinking its a mediocre spec'd part for that application or something, or if you were looking for "performance" gains, etc. Thats all i need right now, getting into modding my household appliances lol

5 years does seem a little low. Could also be possible the cap itself was a border line quality from the factory. Met the factory specs just by a hair.

I get my capacitors from Amazon. Brand is GE Genteq…they last 5+ years and are reasonably priced. Good idea to keep one on hand I’m not sure if they have a shelf life however.

Mars are what they sell at my supply house. If you want to do yourself a favor, ditch the dual cap and get two singles, takes some strain off the dual.
