FYSA. TGMO is Mobil Super and not Mobil 1. Its Super with a higher Moly count. Mobil 1 uses Tri Moly which is a lower amount compared to older/cheaper Moly used in TGMO.

No Amsoil sale here. I don't care what you use. If I wasn't blessed with financial security I wouldn't pay Amsoil prices. Amsoil buys there base oil from Exxon Mobil and sometimes Shell. I personally feel I am getting a tad better additive pack for my money. Could be dead wrong not sure. But my mind is at ease and no doubt on my truck it's smoother. Have not and wouldn't bash any GF6 oil today as all are top notch. Sig Series doesn't comply to CAFE and lessen their Calcium or Phos so yes it is a stouter add pack. Any tribologist would tell you that. Any of the major oil companies could easily make an equal Amsoil Sig Series but that's not their market focus.

Yep. With $20 a year memberships its $10. Get what you pay for. Amsoil is not for everyone.

Was the factory Toyota oil quiet, too? I’m running GTMO at 5K intervals until my 20K Toyotacare is done, then onto Kirkland ...

Kirkland, made by Warren and 100% Mag 1 in a different bottle is a great oil. I like Amsoil. No harm no foul.

Would be interested in having a poll up top for brand preference and the final option being "who cares".

I feel like it doesn't matter. But my dealer does my changes also. Maybe I am in the minority :notsure:

EDIT - Also I don't understand the 2k test time. Wouldn't you test later in mileage to see what brand loses its properties quicker? I feel like most oils are close for the first part of their life. The better story would be who had the most protective properties at 7k. That really measures the quality and signifies who the better brand is. Right?

1UP. Please read original post. My money, my time and my truck. Don't need a poll nor do I care what you think. This was a FYI post. Not scientefic as I stated just for fun. Run virgin oil if you want or move on by to another post. Thanks!

1UP. I stated my 2k test was about comparing Blackstone to oil copanies tech spec. You want to find fault in the Amsoil use and justify Kirkland you use. If you were as comfortable as I am in my choice you wouldn't be triggered :)

    Get comfortable....

Triggered? Everything you have said in your post or eluded to screams thin skin. Don't post to the internet if you can't handle something besides an echo chamber.

21 years and you'd think you could handle hearing something you don't agree with, objectively.

1UP. Relax! Internet warriors are a dime a dozen and I ain't sending a dick pic. Move on brother and rock the Kirkland, Mobil, Kendall, Valvoline or whatever. No one cares for a virtual MMA bitch. Is that enough?

I guess some people didn't get to your last paragraph which explains everything you need to know as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks Tilly..Just trying a post of my "why" and what I like. Being triggered these days unfortunetly is too easy. Can I say more that I respect ones choice, ANY GF6 Is great oil and I PERSONALLY choose to "waste" my own money ;)

Glad your conclusion backs up my recent choices. I've switched all my fluids on all my vehicles to Amsoil, plus it's convenient to just buy a couple gallons worth and have it show up on the door step the same week.

For someone who doesn't care what I think or say, you sure do keep furiously typing about it.

Don't send me crap to my inbox @JWB either. You want to be a passive aggressive, self righteous :bananadance:keep doing it in the open..

You posted to the internet and I had what I believed to be a pretty standard and non confrontational opinion. If you don't want to hear what folks have to say then you keep your opinions to yourself. Pretty basic simple stuff.

    OP

Did you happen to try any of the lower grades offered from Amsoil?

I see that they offer more than one choice.

    Looks interesting.

Thank you OP for sharing your findings. It's always good to hear about other people's experiences.

Well that's all fine and dandy, but the best oil on Earth is NEO synthetics, go to BakerPrecision.com and get yourself some 5-20 and you'll never go back, Can handle RPM's up to 19k without burning, this oil will be your new oil, hands down. All the other's pail in comparison and if you're an aircraft engineer, then you will notice the difference.

I'm with 1UP on this one - it doesn't really matter. I don't think he's triggered and he is right. Same thing goes for oil weights - there are those who claim that 0W-20 is the only "right" oil since it's on their oil cap and those who correctly point out that Toyota specifies several other oils as well depending on location.

Anyone sticking to the 5k OCI will not notice a difference: Dino, synthetic, expensive, cheap, on sale, purchased through a club, USA, Euro.

Now if you want to push to 10k then go for it, the oil may make a difference. Not worth it to try IMO.
