Just got these in the mail today and put them right on. Very straight forward and simple. Much neater cleaner lines than the vinyl wrap that I had done. VINYL WRAP SUCKS SO BAD IT HURTS!!!39337B70-61C2-41AB-8E5A-9BF5F237A46C.jpg

I have these on order, but after watching the install video it looks like the covers hit/make contact on the trim that surrounds the handle. which looks like it leads to scuffs/ scratches.

can you confirm if it clears or if it rubs?

I dry fit them first because the install video said they may rub. Three of the four were fine. One rubbed ever so slightly so i wet sanded it slowly for a bit and it was all good. The key thing i discovered is when installing them when you slide them over the handle as they get about 3/4 of the way on i kinda hit them home with one hand and squeezed tightly around the base of the handle closest to where it attaches to the door to seat them and set the double back tape.

Installed mine today too. 3 of the 4 worked great. One was rubbing on the edge where the lock mechanism is. I wish I had dry fit all four ahead of time. Probably will (try to) take it off and sand it down a bit and then use my own adhesive.

Mine just came in yesterday! Gonna put them on after work today. Will report back about the rubbing if there is any. This just comes down to tolerances from Toyota when they make these handles, and AJT doing their best to stay within the average gap size. Can only make these covers so thin!

I got mine and installed one. I am not impressed. They are clearly not designed to fit without rubbing.

I just tried my rear left and it’s even worse. Door grab sticks out about a centimeter because it can’t close all the way.

Was going to buy, but after watching the AJT install video and the mention of rubbing, I held off. Thanks for confirming everyone.

Hopefully they go back to drawing board on these. I reached out to them today and they appeared to not be aware of the issue....but also acknowledged they rub...so who knows. I can return them, but have to pay shipping and 5$ restocking fee (unless they deem them defective).

Finally got my truck back and installed these. Mine rub, 3 of the 4 do. I slid them back as far as I could with the handle 1/2 open and they still hit on the handle side (not the side closest to the lock but the open side that is not connected to the door) I'll keep them on for now but would be interested in a replacement if they can get the fitment dialed in. On the same subject, my cup holder surround and shifter surround also had some minor issues with attaching the screws, some of the areas I was told to drill out had no plastic left to grab the screw afterwards and I think that's the reason they sit slightly loose after install. I'm not upset about it, I understand I'm choosing to modify my truck and I understand from his standpoint what he's trying to accomplish so if I want it to fit more snug maybe I'll glue them down. As for the doors, I'll keep these unless something better comes out, I still like them much more then chrome.

Received my Cement set today. The driver's side set went on smooth, ever so slightly touch. Passenger side ... both make a popping noise when using the handle. They are definitely hitting/rubbing more. People are talking about sanding, but what part? Lol. I think this is always the case with first run AJT stuff. A year from now, should be smooth with kinks worked out, or maybe this was a tough area to tackle. The way I figure, if they scuff, that's fine, it will be covered up most of the time. If you use the heat gun trick, shouldn't it go away? But a noise or popping sound is not the greatest.

And @TusconTundra - totally agree about the shift trim set. Did it on my 2017 when it first came out, all perfect for the install. Did it again on my 2021, and yeah, no meat for the screws to engage with, so a couple of mine are sitting cocked. Didn't know if Toyota changed the mold a little on the center console or what..it was way more difficult on the new truck.

I got mine on and the driver side pushes out the door panel ever so slightly behind the handle. But I think they look great! It doesn't hurt the panel, and for this price I am super happy with the outcome.

It is difficult to create a product to fit in the gap that a OEM never intended to be filled, so getting it to fit this well is an accomplishment.

@TucsonTundra1794 I had the same problem with my shifter surround from AJT, no tab to screw through, I intend on adding a washer and a longer screw to grab onto the plastic near by to sure it up. I think this is just a variation in the center console from year to year. Toyota will make minor changes like that and AJT may have just designed it around one particular revision.

Sometimes engineers chrome certain things for a reason. For example, light will reflect off a chrome door handle better to help you see it in the dark. Just an opinion, not an argument.

so when I did my install on the chrome delete kit, I was able to make solid contact on plastic with all four corners. I still can’t figure out how people are missing plastic here.

So bottom left in your picture. There is not a solid piece of plastic there. There was only enough for the drilled out plastic weld. So because there isn't the plastic mine can lift ever so slightly. I plan on getting longer SHCS and replacing them (to make them all look the same) and adding a washer under the nut to widen where it can hold onto.

This is due to different revisions of the center console plastic. In the manufacturing world something may look exactly the same to the outside, but get minor changes underneath to account for issues found in the field. Maybe cracking or problems found from car accidents, etc. You truck appears to be a 2017 and mine is a 2015. You also have the small coin holder behind the shifter and mine does not. So definitely a different revision.

Mine does not have a full piece of plastic all the way around like yours, mine only has small pieces were the old piece attached.
