KEEP MGM OR GO ARMY???

Good afternoon,

Just bought my 2021 cm mgm limited. First brand new truck. Originally was wanting wind chill cement green or mgm and was thinking black interior. My dealer had two limiteds a mgm with graphite and a army green with black. I went in to reserve one and was told I missed green by a day it was reserved. Well I go in to my dealer and the guy who reserved the green backed out. And it's sitting there. Should I keep the mgm or see if I can get my dealership to work with me to try and go army? This is my dream truck just color I'm grateful for what I have but I was curious if anyone had this situation happen? I don't see a lot of green in my area. The blackout tape was scratched by the dealership or detail crew on both back sides of mine so that's why I went to the dealer because they said they had to wait for the deal to be processed before I could get the blackout tape fixed and that's when I saw the one that got away.

How bad do u think I'd get hurt on mine I'd lose a lot of money you think?

 

I really lie some of the matte colors but that is overridden but the sparkle of a clean metallic paint. I vote MGM!

So you bought (as in paperwork signed) on the MGM and went back in to find the dealer has another truck on the lot you like.

You can ask - but I have a feeling how the dealer would reply if papers are signed on a vehicle - even if you never physically took delivery.

Reverse the roll - someone sees your truck as it’s rolling off transport, says I like that and offers a dealer a markup beyond what you paid - would you go along and let the dealer “swap” you into a similar vehicle after the deal was made.

Its possible they may accommodate (or might have a buyer for yours who said no to green - but chances are slim in my opinion.

 

Doesn’t hurt to ask! Once they tell you the damage, you can always weigh the option at that time. Plus, if a good dealer sees that you would be happier in the same truck, different color, they may work with you. Maybe I’m just being positive.

 

Both are awful color choices,, but get the awful color you want.

 

It’s the OPs choice - I’m split on AG - it’s not as fugly as some color choices to my pallet - but not my personal fave.

Sometimes to me it depends on how your gonna dress out the truck - white for example isn’t a fave as a stock truck to me - but tastefully lifted with the right rims/trim it looks very nice.

Lunar Rock looks great - on a Prius for example (again in my opinion)

Army Green - I mean I associate that color to either a. A Jeep or B. A Deuce and a Half or perhaps a tank - not a Toyota….but it has its fans.

 

@1UP barcelona red is very nice, congrats on yours. I only wanted new and in my area they're few and far between. There's a regular used sr5 Barcelona red at a nearby dealer that is 65k. Wish I had a chance to pick from several on the lot but that's not the current climate.

 

Just poking fun, you will see on here quite a few posts about who has the "faster" color. The landscaping group (white truck owners) can be very vocal at times.

In all seriousness, never hurts to firmly "ask" to get what you want. Go for the Green.

 

@Shamrock92 i see that and agree, thought I'd seen enough of army green. However either one I'm dechroming . I had always liked the game warden green trucks in my area and this is very close and different. Not sure if it's good for resell or not. Dealer is helping me at cost on some things bc I haven't heard from Roman on here. Its been a week. I just literally see a lot of gray and cement and only green is the Tacoma. The mgm doesn't look bad dressed the same as you're describing. I guess it's just the experience I was thinking of buying a new 54k vehicle was a little of a let down no trucks every other dealer out to hours away 5-10k over msrp and several guys at the dealerships that do reserve vehicles reserved multiple trucks under different names. One dealer lied to me I drove for a meeting with him hours away only to find out he had me load the kids and wife in the truck to try and sell me a white base Sr5. He wouldn't come out of the sales office to talk to me in person. Thought was just rattling in my head since I saw it sitting there

If it was over 5000 not including paperwork I wouldn't do it it's expensive paint job and the mgm does glisten in the sun

 

MGM is the second slowest color, so you need to take that into account.

A lot of dealers could care less right now. Service is lacking I'm glad I was blessed to find one that didn't do the markup. I guess corporate stores don't.

@1UP it's all good brother I know. If I saw that blazing red I may have bought it even though it wasn't my top pick just because it's literally fire in the sun

MGM by a mile. Green will look dated very soon.

 

Not a fan of either color, but I do think mgm will hold value better, not show dust quite as much, and be more appealing to others in general. Your $$$, your decision! Good luck with it and Congrats on the new wheels!

 

*shrug* Buy the MGM and put a wrap on it? There’s a guy I follow on Instagram/YouTube who wrapped his Honda Passport in a pretty close match to the army green. Check out “JonDZ Adventuring” if you’re interested.

I wanted VooDoo but settled on black cause that’s what they had for me to see…thankfully no black anywhere near where I live, all MGM, White and Barcelona

 

So what your saying is you only pick the right color 20% of the time.

@War Machine was radiant red similar to Barcelona red? Windchill baby batter must be amazing in the sun never seen one that I can recall.

@Jim LE 1301 do you have any experience with the mgm color match parts? I'd like to make mine like a sport either way. Wife preferred the fancy electric passenger seat and moonroof but I liked the color match front end.
