So i noticed today that the gap between the top of the front bumper corners are different. The driver side gap between the top corner of the bumper and the bottom of the small panel below the headlight is smaller than the passenger side. Is this a symptom of the famous driver side lean? Does anyone else notice this? Wondering if this is normal with the lean or if I need to take it back to the dealer for an inspection.

The lean makes the whole truck lean so the spacing would be the same. Your bumper might be slightly out of alignment(not uncommon). With it being new, you should be able to take it in and get them to adjust it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was afraid of that. Honestly, I gotta say that I am more than a little disappointed with the the slight, but annoying quality issues i have had with this truck. Toyota definitely does not seem the same as it once was in this regard.

The uneven bumper gap is normal. It's easy to adjust it yourself. There is a thread on here somewhere with video showing how to do it. There are 8 nuts that have to be loosened.

The Tundra is hard on anyone with OCD. None of them are square, but it's usually overlooked due to the reliability. It could be as simple as settling while in transit that caused your issue.

As far as the lean, measure from the middle of your hub up to the fender to compare passenger/driver sides, and that will tell you how much, if any, lean you have.

I mean, they really are minor issues, i would rather have the reliability of the truck, true. But come on, i work in quality control, how could you let this go on a 50k truck. It isnt just this though, my toe was off on the alignment resulting in a steering wheel misalignment which drove me nuts until i got it aligned, and the passenger side floorboard under the glove box pops when pressure is put on it.

Totally understandable frustrations, and honestly, I'm gonna take the easy way out on this. You know the whole "never buy a truck built on Monday or Friday" joke? I'd say never buy one during a pandemic. Quality control seemed to go out the door on lots of stuff during the last year.

I would 100% agree with you. I however didnt have a choice. My ranger went out at 300k miles and i drove the wifes car for a few months but we needed another car, and I wanted to get the Tundra before they ruin it in a year with the redesign. I must have gotten the Friday 4:30pm car assembled by a temp or something.....

Wait till you notice how the rear passenger tire protrudes an inch or so more compared to the left driver rear... don’t go look!

    :ohsnap:

Maybe Toyota finally addressed it in 2021. They only ignored it for 6 years... well at least i was able to make you look...but did you measure correctly? What are the odds i can get you to re-measure. It is from the frame to the inside of the tire wall. Better check again.

Way ahead of you my friend. I went from the outside of the frame to the outside of the tire. I even looked from the back to see if one tire stuck out past the mud flaps.

I guess instead of this, I was blessed with a popping floor panel....

LMAO, yup mine has this and the the damn lean, notice it more when I fill up my tank. I only fill it up halfway now to make it look somewhat even (JK). It use to bug me alot, now it doesn’t cause i see other Tundra and some have more noticeable lean.

Hello Ed, I noticed you are from Corona,CA. That where I use to live at Grand and Main.

The in-laws move to Sparks and my wife wanted to move , she got tired of the 91 fwy and she worked in Anaheim, she didn’t get home until 7. Packed up and moved 3 yrs ago. I sure do miss CA, weather and my friends

    It's all normal.

My advice is to start Modding the truck ASAP, as much as your wallet can bear. Pretty soon you'll have nice aftermarket bumpers and will forget about any gaps! It's a great feeling, at first there is Warranty Hesitancy, but once you cross the line there's no turning back ;)

Anyone here know what the correct or factory gap in this area should be? seems like less than half an inch.
