So, I cured an itch I have had since I got married and sold my 350Z. I bought a 2009 Mazda MX5 sport. It was owned by an older lady and had never been modified, except for a bunch of Wonder Woman stuff. I have removed the badges, license plate frames, shift ball, and valve stem caps... I got a free set of wheels with the car. The tires were junk, but the wheels are fine, I sent them off to get powder coated and have 205/45/17 RE71R tires mounted on them. Progress front sway bar, track brake pads and ordered a blackbird roll bar. This is going to be my weekend racer, I am very excited to go and play. Planning on starting in CS class in auto cross and evolving from there

Love it! Just curious why you switched from the 350Z?

fun stuff, I do like Mazda. I had a 2010 Mazda 3GT and it was a great car. Post info on the mods you make.

I hand washed and waxed it today, I was able to buff out a lot more than I expected. Yesterday I had track brake pads put on and a big fatty of a front sway bar, made a gigantic difference.
As I was washing the car, my wife told me I need to replace the head lights and make it look better. So I ordered new head lights, front lip (old one is beaten like a red headed step child), carbon fiber rear lip spoiler and a stubby antenna. Oh and new LED light bulbs for the headlights and fog lights.
I am already looking at coilovers and wider light weight wheels for more tire... so much for staying in CS class very long.
oh and I noticed today during some spirited driving that this does not have a factory LSD... gonna have to fix that

Mx5 not really my thing but I can totally identify with the empty feeling you had. Sold my Evo after getting married and also been wanting to fill the void. Congrats and hope you have fun with it!

If you get bored with auto cross, throw on a lift kit and some bigger tires and get muddy…. Heh!

I sold my 2013 after 7 years. It was fun especially in the twisties but not practical at all. Couldn’t even fit a 29er wheel in it.
It was my transition vehicle from sport bikes to none.

I had a 2006 mx5 sport 6M, I’m 6’4” and was made fun or unmercifully for driving it! I made each one of them get in and took them down a curvy road, the smile on their face said it all. Not at all fast, but carry speed into the corner and listen to the tires, it’ll tell you before you lose the rear end. Incredibly predictable little car and a joy to drive. The joy of the car is that anyone can push it to its absolute limits, relatively safely, it’s fun to push a car that hard.

I currently have 195 run flat all season junk tires... I have trust issues with them. Still pushed them pretty hard today.

The FRS/86/BRZ is a pass for me, I dislike the boxer engines... if they came with a Toyota equivalent of a k24, I would change my mind

Yeah, fair enough, that's a concern. But I consider it one of the last true driver's cars. And my brother in law has now owned at least 3 boxers.

Light day today, slapped on some wheel spacers for some better fitment, this is the first time in my life I have ever put a wheel spacer on a car

I also got my seat rail drop mounts in, I hope to tackle that this weekend between taking care of customers.

Oh and a sneak peak of the wheels I will run in stock class

This is my 2012 GT with the power hard top. Lots of fun to drive and even better with the Meister coilovers.

Once the NC is lowered it really makes the car look way better, more proportional, and dare i say , much more expensive.

I seem to always have an itch to put a turbo kit on it or just get something with more displacement but then I just get in and drive and forget about all that. Pretty amazing cars for the money and tough to beat for just pure driving enjoyment and low cost of ownership.

So... I got the new headlights from UPS last night, they looked great, but the driver’s side headlight was rattling... sure enough... broken adjuster tab...

This morning I installed the new front lip, passenger headlight and changed out the fog light bulbs. Passenger side is all the way done, just need to swap out the headlight when the replacement gets here

Took the wheel spacers off and slapped on the wheels and sticky tires! Man these things are glued to the pavement

Mine is a 2013 Club that I bought new for myself as a retirement gift. It came with good suspension and LSD. It is a lot of fun on the street and I have taken it out for a multi-day road trip a couple of times. I keep thinking about getting something a little more comfortable, but anything bigger and softer is also heavier and not as much fun to drive.

I can’t fit in a NA, NB or ND, only the NC. I love how light and nimble it is!

Briefly owned an NA for the express purpose of autocrossing. When PCA people see you trailering a Miata they think 'oh geez this guy must be fast'. disappointed many people with how slow i was. couldn't keep the top up in the rain with a helmet on.

they are so nice to work on, i'll say that much. you really appreciate the engineering when you start swapping out parts.
