    Taking a trip to pismo Beach for the first time. Does anyone know if the dunes are open?

    More than a few.....
    Not 100% now but cant imagine why not. Went few months ago when visiting inlaws and it was open.

    Yes they are open, but looks like the coastal commission is getting it's way and the area will be closed at some point in the future. :censored:

    Don’t know the answer to your question, sorry.

    went to school nearby, used to enjoy grabbing Fish n Chips at Splash cafe, then wandering out to the dunes to watch people try to take their mini vans over the river crossing on the way out to the dunes. Couple guys with trucks and tow straps would just sit there waiting to pull them out. Learned a lot about how to properly cross a sand river, like don’t try to drive upstream, go with the flow, keep your wheels as straight as possible. Good times but I should have been studying :cool:
