I drove 1.5 hrs last night to meet this guy. We had been talking for days and finally established a date/time. I get there and he goes silent. No response, nothing. When I get home I see he's posted the ad 3 more times in the past 5 minutes.

I really don't know what's going on. I can't figure out what the scam would be. He has the ad posted like 12 times in the past week.

I've washed my hands of it. It would bring a small amount of joy to my heart if anyone else who sees this feels like flagging these posts and/or spamming the shit out of the guy.

I use Craigslist a lot. Something just doesn't seem right with that posting. I only buy local. Too many flakes out there.

What would the scam be? Looking for someone who's willing to e-transfer payment before meeting?

Yep. The format and spelling were an initial red flag. E payment before meeting is a giant red flag! Yes, Craigslist does have scammers This one quite obvious. Yet, people still fall for this. smh.

Not sure if the seller wanted a E payment first in this instance but overall layout just looked iffy to me. If it has a bad feel to it I pass on it.

Yeah I shop on CL a lot. Most of my furnishings are from CL. The house I’m renting. Hell, even my Tundra. I am pretty good at filtering out scams. He never asked for e payment. No idea what the scam was for.

I am a little worried it might have been a “let’s watch this guy and follow him, then rob him” situation. Naturally I didn’t show up with $1800 cash. I was planning to meet him, take a photo of his license plate, send it to family, then go to the bank. Call me crazy, but I am always cautious.

some local PDs have a "safe" online ad/meet up location, usually next to the police station :)

I met @T-Rex266 because of CL item he was selling. Made me meet up with him in front of the Thornton PD station........not a bad idea actually!

They don't care. It's usually on their parking lot: cars, motorcycles, etc..no problem

Oh I’m sure police don’t care. But how do you transport a camper shell if you don’t have the exact pickup it fits on?
