I agree with what you said, but the amount of $ you mention is WAY BELOW what most people installing the cooler are expending.

Right.... because Toyota removed the plumbing and thermostat..... and never had a good mount for one ever as I recall....

I see the same not towing.
My experience so far is that my temps are very close towing vs not towing , I see higher torque jumps when accelerating vs not towing , however pan temps are close from what I observed , of course I tow on s4 and keep it at 60mph max . I have uploaded to this thread data collection from towing vs none towing showing results

My experience is that the stock 5.7 engine is nearly impossible to overheat when the cooling system is in good working order.

The trans cooling system on the other hand seems insufficient to control the trans temp when towing even if you pin the trans thermostat open.

I've finished my vacation and I traveled around 7,500 kms over a three week period. Everything worked perfect with the added cooler and I saw pan temps from 195f to 210f. Very happy with the results.

If it stays there for the entire drive, that's probably not unreasonable. What do the temps do if you drop it to S4?

I wouldn't be too worried about those temps.

Resurrecting this thread from over two years ago from the last post, actually read every comment from start to finish, I also have a 2020 with the hockey puck type cooler/heater, I really don’t do any towing to speak of but I do run 80 miles an hour on the freeways and tollways on various trips, curious if anybody has anything to add about their comments on this thread…
    Thanks in advance

I can tell you from experience that running 80 on the highway will easily bring your temps up to 220-230 with no cooler. With the cooler you stay around 185 all the time.

Mine is running with the thermostat unpinned. Max payload and WOT, stock gears, on 35's not towing with air temp at 85 the tranny stays at 212. Works for me.

Thermostat? I thought there was not thermostat on the 2019+ because there is no real cooler and that’s the whole gripe…

Not long after I bought the truck, I installed a Hayden HD cooler, OEM thermostat, hard lines, and hoses. Just sharing the numbers for those who want to make comparisons.
