Would be nice if Poly Performance had an instruction manual on their website to look over before a buy.

I finally installed the yellow box in my 05 DC and it works perfectly. Just as stated by @04TundraTRD I spliced into the violet with white tracer speedo wire at the ABS ECU on the passenger side under the hood. I tapped into power at the gauge fuse. Corrected the error on the yellow box and now its dead on.

Congrats! Now I need to order mine. Looks like the 05-06 need the same YellowBox. I'm confused to which one to buy. What yellow box do you have?

So if I took my abs sensors off my speedo wouldn't work? I always assumed it was a transmission output shaft sensor or something that drove the speedometer.

I think I need a 2 wire set up? Not sure what sensor I'm suppose to look for...

You need the v5 with splice wiring harness, not the "2-wire". You will be splicing at the ABS ECU in engine compartment, passenger side. You won't be doing anything on the tranny. I got 4m of wire and had plenty left over. Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks. I guess starting July 2021, Yellow box has a dip switch version so it's easier to calibrate. Should wait to get that one?

I don't think their unit is hard enough to calibrate to be worth waiting on a different model, but July isn't far away. Your call.

I actually have on of their older model in my garage, no harness just the box.

the transmissio no longer outputs speed with the 5 speeds. it does have revolution sensors for input, output, but the speedo is controlled by the ABS summed speed

Crazy. I guess it's a good thing I haven't taken the rear abs sensors off (yet). I removed my front abs sensors because they were stuck and broke and I didn't mind not having abs. If I did a different rear axle I guess I'd be needing to cobble the Toyota abs sensors on there to keep my speedo.

@seth419 That red wire in your picture, what does that hook up to?

That is the power wire and it doesn't connect to anything at the ABS ECU. Its the same red power wire you see spliced to the add a fuse at the fuse panel. I carefully cut into the wire cover inside the cab and cut the red wire to connect to the add a fuse. I used the "gauge" fuse which only has power in the key "on" position.

As far as waiting for the dip switch model, I would probably get the current v5 just to save a couple bucks, as I think it says the new one is going to be more expensive. As @Darkness said above, calibrating it is easy once you start messing around with it.

I'm only a sample size of one, but when yellr responded to me yesterday they said it could be either one that of receive if I ordered the plug in model. Sounds like it might not be until July for those and it seemed like the 2 wire was available now with the older model and later with the dip switch.

They were rather helpful and timely with answering my questions too.

Jennifer says the plug n play model may not work on our set up. It depends if you have a 3pin or a 2 pin sensor plug style.

Jennifer "If has 3-pin plug set at shown attached then Plug-n-play Harness is
available. For "2-wire" sensor it will be Splice Harness only."

I'm pretty sure the old one I have is the dip switch they mentioned. I'll look for it later, its in the abyss known as my garage.

Yeah that's what I got too. I was assuming it was the 3, but it could be the 2. I don't recall why I was thinking that.

When you get yours, can you post an update? I'm curious if @seth419 2005 differs from our 2006 wiring.

No problem. I haven't ordered yet. I haven't even looked under my truck yet. Likely I'll be looking on Friday.

You guys don't need to look under your trucks, you will not plug in or splice anything at the transmission. The yellowbox will not work if you do this. 05-06 get the speedo reading from the ABS so you need to splice in between the ABS ECU and speedo. Do either of you have traction control (VSC)? Wiring location may differ if you do but you are still looking for the violet/white tracer wire. It may look different from mine as I do not have VSC. My first 2 pictures are showing the ABS ECU and wire harness that you need to splice on non VSC. It is under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall. You should just be able to take the wire loom off and locate the violet/white wire.

The VSC, would that me a button that I can turn off and on? If so, I do not have that.

Yes, i think there would be a traction control off button. Yours should be the exact same as mine then.

negative. You CANNOT turn off traction control or VSC on the 2006. You CAN unplug a connector by the brake fluid reservoir but that’s a work around.
One way to check if you have VSC is out the truck in 4hi (if you have it) and the VSC light (bottom left) on the dash will illuminate.

Just ordered. FYI they're offering the new version at the same price as the current model for those willing to wait. Shipping is about to go up but it was $0 as of a few minutes ago.

I can't wait to fix a bit of what the pizza cutters (33") seem to have done to drivability....

Edit - it just arrived. Nice setup - comes with a plug to keep my OEM sensors up if I ever need to remove the Box for warranty work, and the harness appears well-made (tinned wires, etc.) Later today I'll begin spelunking for the necessary wires on the truck. Crossing everything that comes in pairs that I don't cut more than necessary.

@seth419 Hey man, I just got my Yellowbox in the mail a couple of days ago. They sent the version with the dip switches, the wiring looks the same as yours. Just to be sure, I want to look for the purple wire with white stripe and a power source that is not constant, correct?

Also, how is the yellow box holding up?

Yes, purple wire with white stripe at the ABS ECU as shown in my pics above and power source that is not constant. Yellow box is still working perfect.

Quick note (no install results, as my mini fuses have not arrived): I didn't specify wire harness length when I ordered. If we route the harness from the kick panel through the rubber nipple located outboard of the master cylinder and then across the pinch weld on the firewall, there's nearly a half foot of slack for wiring up to the ABS harness.

Looking forward to 2006Tundra's outcome for sure.
