My neighbor just did his Chevy Avalanche with the trim restorer and the results were amazing. Six months later and it still looks like he just put it on.

I haven’t seen a DIY or How-To anywhere, just photos of people who have done it. Messaged one of the guys on a Tundra FaceBook group I’m in who had it done and he said it’s a direct replacement.

It definitely is, but I’ve also read that the use of 0.5” bumper spacers is mandatory to get the lines to match up correctly. I ordered a set off of a coach builder site back in April and got tired of waiting so I installed the bumper without them. I emailed the company weeks ago asking for an estimated delivery date and haven’t heard from them yet so I’m thinking about contacting PayPal and initiating a dispute.

it is a direct bolt on replacement, but as you can see if this photo from yesterday- the lines on a third Gen are a little different than a second Gen. I think the spacers will help out immensely and I’ll be happy with it though, as I hate the chrome 2nd Gen.

    1) Bought with 225k miles on it, a Westin bullnose bumper, and OEM tundra steps 2) Current Mileage 238k Mods: 1) Dirty Deeds BA Mufflers 8 inch with resonator (as of Feb 2021) - Had the 10 inch with resonator - Prefer the 10 inch without resonator - deeper sound hear it more in the cab 2.) Ranch Hand Summit Front Bumper/Guard 3) Ranch Hand Summit Bumper 4) Billstein 5100s all around 5) TRD front and rear sway bars 6.) Rough Country wheel to wheel steps 7) Pioneer 8400 NEX Wireless ApplePlay 8) Backup Camera: e-raptor 9) LED white lights replaced in headlights, fog lights, inside cabin, and exterior lights 10) Linex (unbranded by Central Texas Truck Coatings) 11) OEM Toyota side panels and generic panel on tailgate Maintenance/Repairs: 1) Valve covers, belt tensioner, alternator belt - $415 2) Evaporation fuel canister and filter replacment $1547 *This was a Toyota TSB for 07-08 AFAIK. Toyota covered in first 3 years of ownership. Mine failed after 13 years of daily regular driving use. Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36
Toytec shackles installed at 1”. Received wrong nuts and wil bump up to 1.5” when new hardware arrives. Morimoto xb headlamps and fogs installed. Left blinker ticks fast. I don’t mind it. Right blinker ticks at normal speed.

air pump injectors went out. Costly repair but not shelling out cash for a newer tundra and swapping parts paying for labor again.

I had a bit of a hook up on the paint but if I remember right it was about 100 bucks to get painted by a body shop.

Hi everyone would like to know if anyone has done chrome delete on the door handles, side mirrors, rear bumper or side steps? There’s a lot of chrome on here would really like to get rid of most if not all pictures for reference below

@Shanet421 really? Any reason as to why you took them off if you don’t mind me asking? Are they in good condition?

I wanted to go with color matched over black. They are 7 years old but still holding up well. There are no broken tabs on any part

    Busy evening with the tundra.

    - Got it back from the body shop
    - Removed the bed rail caps
    - Washed bed rails
    - Installed 4" 3m film extending up under the bed rail caps
    - Reinstalled bed rail caps and snugtop
    - No pictures because the film is invisible and the shell looks identical

As with any project, I'm obsessing over something. Now I am paranoid that the little bit of soapy water I couldn't work out from under the film is going to damage the finish, especially on the new paint.
Oh well, I'm doing my best to protect it. The snugtop has those overhangs that keep the water out, but on the backside they are just raw fiberglass and they don't play nice with the paint.

    1 or 2... I lost count
Went on a camping trip this past weekend. Aired down my tires to about 15 psi for the first time and, WOW, totally different beast with a little air out of the tires! I definitely need to upgrade the suspension because I bottomed out the front on at least 2 occasions. I went through the entire first day without scraping on anything even while I was driving in the dark, then in the morning, after I packed up camp, I forgot to check my surroundings, and I caught a tree stump on the front of my passenger slider. Slider did its job and there was no damage  IMG_2129.jpg

Installed the Hewitt Gen2 AIP emulator/bypass. Fixed the problem 100%! Install was super easy and straightforward, just time consuming taking my time to not mess something up. Passenger side AIP connector is the most difficult to remove as you have to contort you hand and lay in the engine bay to access. Driver side is easy, can see it and access from the side of the engine bay no problem. Block off plate install was super easy as well. Reinstalled the engine cover after the last pic

There are aspects we love and also aspects we miss of Great Falls. The weather has been good and having family around / being able to help out family has been invaluable thus far. With kiddo due on the scene June 11th it’s nice to have a support system in place. My parents got covid and my dad really bad so it was amazing to be able to support them during that time, They are both on the mend thankfully. New house has been nice to not have to deal with any major break/fix and I love my job with the state.

LOTS more people and I got used to less traffic and less people so that’s a con. Cost of living is a bit higher than Great Falls as are gas prices. Just various odds and ends.

The verdict...we’ll be really happy here for the foreseeable future. My wife and I agree though that Montana is probably in our future again down the road, either once kiddos are in college or retirement. Still have lots of friends there to keep in touch with! We are excited to build our life in Idaho though!

Put weather stripping and wired up the camper. I've had to push each corners of the glass to latch. I pulled the latches together while reinstalling and now it opens and closes perfectly.. Found a pair of swing case boxes for 150. Gotta finish running wire to battery for constant power for cargo lights. Planning on replacing the bulb with led strips on the ceiling.
