I elected not to go with the sedative so I could drive to and fro. Was that a mistake?

True story...... When I had mine done the nurse prepped me and left me in the freezing room for 30 minutes, naked and uncovered. I was literally shivering when the doctor came in. I said "damn Doc, it effin freezing in here". Without missing a step he said "don't worry, in a few minutes you'll be sweating".

So, he started. I was laying on my back and felt blood running running downward off of my junk down my leg. He blotted it with a swab and I said "bleeding pretty bad is it?". He held up the swab and it was like someone had touched the sharp tip of a red sharpie to it, the blood was barely visible. I said, "hell I thought I felt blood running down my leg". He replied, "that was that sweat I was talking about" as he cracked up laughing. I laugh about it today, but damn.

Mine was done over 20 years ago under local anesthesia.

I remember seeing smoke rising from my balls.

And you sit down real slow for a while,

I took the sedative but it didn't do anything to help. When someone has a knife down by your cash and prizes not much is going to help!

Doc used a localized anesthetic... Felt like an upside can of air. In and out in like 30 minutes.

About 3 days of stiffness total. Next morning was rough getting out of bed.

    100% no regrets.

Haha, all of you tough guys with local sedative or none at all. They put me completely under AND I got three days off work. I went in. They gave me a shot. I woke up in bed and a nurse wheeled me to my wife's car and called me a lightweight because I went under so easy. Joke's on them. I spent three days in my recliner stuffing my face and watching TV with an icepack on my junk. A pretty pleasant experience really and all it cost me was letting a geriatric Asian man in a lab coat play with my danglers for a minute.

What a great thread to have resurrected.

Smoke and sizzle is certainly worthy if a chuckle, but I'll never forget my old school doc, Dr. Schloss (seriously), walk in, pop in a stick of gum and throw a ball cap on backwards. I wanted to murder him as he was working on the second side because i coukd feel every tug and pull. Braveheart getting gutted is what I picture it being like, and his response was "I guess I could've used more on this side... Oh well.. We're almost done".

Highly recommend the two incisions instead of one and caution anyone who needs to sit for long periods at work to take a few extra days. Any meeting longer than 30 minutes and I'd have to wait for the room to clear so I could get up and adjust the swollen mess before walking.

Only negative residual effect is more frequent blue balls. Apparently it's a common issue.ans was rather concerning at first.

I finally had mine done a month ago. The anxiety was 100 times worse than the procedure. I was in and out in 30 mins. Just had local...I swear I didn't feel even the lidocaine. Only pain I had was the single incision site but just felt like a papercut for a few weeks. Went back to work 3rd day. Rode my bike on week 2. Now 100% back to normal. One more odd thing the doctor recommended no ice. So i didnt do any and was still good to go. He has done 22,000 so he says so I assumed he knew best.

30 minutes on a Friday. Local anesthetic. Watched the doc the whole time. 2 small incisions. 2 small sections of the vas deferens cut out. Small puffs of smoke and a faint smell of grilled beef. Stitched up and walked out. A couple frozen bags of peas to ease the pain and swelling. I was back to work Monday. No strenuous exercise for a couple months. No RAGRETS.

When I had mine done back in the day….. the prep nurse walked in …. Seriously looked like she walked out of Playboy magazine. She says “ I’m here to shave and prep you for surgery….. I have warm shave cream and a hot towel”…….didn’t care what they did after that :)

I’m planning on getting this surgery soon. Within the year maybe. I know it’s not that bad but, I’m sweating it. I keep joking with my wife that they are going to lay my balls out on the table and smack them with a hammer.

Here’s my story thus far....we had a boy delivered 12-19-19 and had a vasectomy scheduled for Feb-2020

They called and said they were canceling everything due to Covid

We are due with another boy end of October 2021

I’ll get paid paternity leave so I’ll have a vasectomy done while I’m on leave lol

    That hurt thinking about it.

My buddy told me about a guy he works with that got it done. Guess he's a horny old bastard, said F it and went home to try things out that night with his wife! Didn't workout so well for him, he blew but nothing came out. Nuts swelled up like tennis balls and had to have emergency surgery.

When the doctor tells you how many times you have to evacuate the pipes after the procedure and before bringing in a specimen...double the number (medical necessity may swing the odds in your favor). I was told 12, so that means I told my wife 24. She laughed out loud and didn’t bother going the extra mile. She basically said “you’re on your own.” Haha. I don’t blame her.

Yes, I know a guy that it happened to twice.

Not at all but DO NOT shave ahead of time. I did and when they got me on the gurney a smoking hot blond flipped the sheets back to shave me and said well, guess I don't need to do that. My wife gave me shit for years for missing an opportunity to have a strange hot woman handle my junk.
