I'm interested in the ride characteristics of the TRD Pro Sequoia.
    Can someone share a review?

    thx

Haven’t owned a Pro, but my wife had a Limited for almost ten years, and drives a Platinum now. They both drove / road like a dream. Incredible vehicles. The limited had over 200k miles, and nothing ever went out on it. Never did anything but maintenance, tires, brakes, etc on it.

Absolutely zero complaints in all our years of ownership. I wanted her to go with a Pro, since I prefer that interior, but she wanted the Platinum.

not to slight this prestigious forum, but is there another forum for Sequoia owners that has a lot of traffic? there are some of us on ih8 but that tends to be more overland/adventure kind of interests

I should have said upfront that what I don't like about the new-to-me 2013 Ltd with 142K is the spongy ride. It is all bone-stock and overall in outstanding condition [thank you original owner]. But I dunno if what bugs me is due to the stock coilovers just being worn out or that's the norm. I have Bilstein 5100's on my 07 4Runner and while I much prefer its ride, it isn't a "good ride" in my view - I'm disappointed in the 5100's. Still too much dip/bounce and rock/roll. The Sequoia is similar and can "lunge" to a degree that would scare my wife, who at this point doesn't care to drive it at all, nor ride much.

I had a Tundra TRD Pro for two years and just got the Sequoia so I am largely comparing the two.

Owned the Sequoia for a week, my take:

    - The TRD Pro Sequoia does not have the two inch lift. This makes a bigger difference than you'd think in handling on the road, it feels more planted than the Tundra.

    - It is heavier than the Tundra and you can feel the weight.

    - It is significantly shorter in length, this has a great impact on your turning radius.

    - The Independent Rear Suspension makes a very smooth ride. I did not drive the other trims, I only considered the TRD Pro, so I don't know how different the ride is for the SR5, Limited, etc.

    - There are many additional small upgrades to the interior in the Sequoia TRD Pro vs the Tundra TRD Pro.

    - One of the biggest changes is the sound. You barely hear the engine - the loud exhaust is stock for the Tundra, it's an option for the Sequoia which many do not get. I prefer the quieter operation, the loud exhaust is one of the best engines I've ever heard, but it's not enjoyable when you are on a 5 hour road trip.

    Hope this helps!

I have a 2012 Sequoia Platinum, also drove a 07 4runner SR5 with bilstiens. When I first drove the Sequoia, I was amazed at how much different the two vehicles felt. I did not like the ride of the 4runner but the Sequoia is so much smoother and comfortable.

And it looks like it has the driver side grab handle! Bonus!

We have a 2018 Platinum 4x4 and it also has a drivers side grab handle. Wasn't aware other model years didn't have this. It's such a large vehicle that driver and passenger handles should be standard.

I think they were comparing it to the 3rd gen Tundras. The Sequoia kept the grab handle while the 3rd gen Tundra ditched them.

Gas mileage is comparable with the Tundra yes? My bank account couldn't handle both in the driveway :(

Gas mileage is similar, yes. However, every vehicle has a purpose. My primary purpose for the vehicle is to be loaded down with 4-6 people, loaded up with gear on the roof or with a trailer. Mileage won't be great, but it will be a reliable machine for getting the job done.

OP - the TRD Pro Sequoia drives really really well. I came off of a 2020 SR5 Tundra. The interior is much quieter on the road which I found interesting. I also find the transmission to be smoother at low speeds. The suspension is fantastic and it drives really smooth. Great visibility out the windshield and windows. If you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out

Do the newer sequoias have a transmission cooler? Did the older ones ever have one? I’ve been going back and forth on a sequoia or a new tundra. The lack of a transmission cooler on the newer tundras is disappointing. I wasn’t sure if that was an applicable issue for a new sequoia versus a 2018 and older one?

Own a 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro and a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. They drive very similar.

Just got a '21 Sequoia TRD Pro, was driving a '16 Tundra 1794 with Bilsteins. Bilsteins made the Tundra noticeably better, but Sequoia TRD Pro is WAY more comfortable, which is a major reason I got it.
