Hey guys, first post here. Trying to install the base plates for a Yakima Outpost HD rack on my wife’s Tundra. It’s a 2012 Crewmax, short bed. No factory bed rail track. It seems that the base plates won’t push in flush with the bed rail because the clamps hit the bed inside. I peeled back the bed liner and the areas that are recessed enough to allow the baseplate to sit flush are pretty short and the clamps don’t get close enough together. Wondering if anyone has run into this. I don’t want to install it with a 1/4” gap like in the photo. The bed liner is pretty thin, so cutting it out in that section will help but not solve it.

    Thanks

Here is one professionally installed on a Tundra. That gap is intended. Video starts at a point where you can see the gap pretty easily.

    Welcome from Wyoming.

Ok thanks for the info, just wasn’t sure if that gap would take away from the weight capacity. I did cut out a notch of the bed liner, didn’t help much but went ahead and installed it anyways. Feels pretty solid. Thanks for the help.

Looks good! If I ever get around to getting a kayak, that is the setup I want for it!

Looks great. I installed mines just after my tool box and included the cross bar support

hey! New here. I’m having the SAME issues with my ‘18 tundra. I can’t get the overhaul to fit flush...
How’s it working for you a few months later???
