Gas Can Storage

    Who’s found a good option for storing and securing gas cans in the bed of their truck? If possible I want to avoid drilling holes but I know that might not work. I’m open on the type of gas can but don’t like the idea of them becoming a potentially explosive projectile in bed of my truck.

    Cut a 2" X 12" board long enough to fit in the slots stamped into the sides of the bed. The slots are located right behind the rear wheel tubs, which gives you about 2' to stow gas cans and any other packages between the board and the tail gate without having them loose in the bed. Easy to load, easy to unload. Run a rope through the handles if you're worried they may spill.

    I don't keep gasoline in my truck bed, but when I make a trip for mower gas, this works well. This can is extremely stable and hard to tip:

    I made a frame out of 1515 extruded aluminum and secured it to the bed rail. Then added a RotoPax mount with extensions. I can move the frame anywhere in the bed of the truck depending on what I’m hauling. I can also move the containers without hassle to any of our two other 4x4s that also have the RotoPax mount. Gives me a lot of flexibility. I’ve taken two 5,000+ mile trips and the containers didn’t budge an inch.

    More than a few.....
    I have one of these for lawn mower fuel and can say that they are absolutely the best and 100% safe. Not a drop of gas will escape.
