In this area lots of vehicles have been getting hits overnight losing their catalytic converters. Has this been an issue in your area as well? Has anyone looked into getting a cage for their Tundra? What is that kind of thing cost?

Search, there are several threads about Cat cages, anti theft covers, etc.

Hopefully staying on thread topic... any thoughts, experiences, etc, regarding Toyota-provided "PROPLM" alarm system, and CC theft deterrence/prevention?

I contacted my local Toyota dealer, asking what parts/services they have to deter/prevent CC theft... no mention of plates, etc. But they do want to sell me the PROPLM system for $799. Claims it has vibration/shock sensing that "could" be triggered by under-vehicle tampering.

But when I read the manual, it only says "Interior Theft Sensor - This sensor guards against vehicle body damage, theft of vehicle equipment (such as air bags), and personal belongings inside the vehicle."

I garage my Tundra 7 nights/week. I'm just afraid, that one time when I happen to be out overnight, on a road trip, etc... some a** steals my truck's cats.

I've already read all about the custom shields/plates, ineffectiveness of rebar, stuff like that... just curious about the alarm system, yet afraid to waste $799. Thanks!

They are idiots. You need the plates for the cats.
