Thoughts this is on the side wall. Replace or don't sweat it. Another case or over analyzing my truck... It's holding perfect air pressure. And don't see cords

i'd replace if it were me... holds air pressure for now... but what if it just decides it's had enough at 70mph on the freeway?

I'd imagine your dedictable is a lot more than a tire if you park it in the median barrier...

If one is bad there's a good chance all 4 are bad and all must be replaced with larger tires... immediately. There's a chance the stock wheels did it. Replace those too. Methods are good to go.

I had a gash like that on a work truck once, company didn't want to replace and wouldn't you know it that sucker blew on the interstate 2 weeks later. load E range as well and it still blew, I wouldn't risk it.

Yea it is a big risk. Could be fine for a while or could blow and cause an accident. Shouldn't gamble if your life is involved and it's preventable.
Like others said it's an excuse to get some bigger tires on there.

Agreed, especially if you put your family in the truck. The one that blew on me if that was my personal truck I would have replaced it no question, company I worked for just didn't want to spend the money on a tire. Cost them in the end as we lost half day of work because of it, cheaper to to the right thing the first time around.

Need to tell her that all tires are susceptible being that small on that large of a truck. Gotta get 295's or bigger! Not really much of an option

Ask about trading in 3 of them. You might get more than 220 for them and don't have to worry bout selling them.

I'm a tech of 23 years been through training for everything including tires. So you want to pull the gash apart with thumbs and look at it depending on how deep it is you may see the nylon cords if they are damaged replace it if not your fine. from your pic doesn't look serious you probably wont even see the cords, looks like cosmetic damage to me. I'm not suggesting to be cheap about it but if cords are fine save your money for when its time to get bigger tires
