Can anyone give me some recommendations on wheels and tires?

I plan on getting a leveling kit installed and was planning on staying with the 17" wheels. I really like the look of the SEMA TRD wheels.

But looking at some websites I'm getting some conflicting information if they will fit without rubbing. Also, recommendations on tire brands and sizes.

Budget: $1400 for wheels and tires (but lower would obviously be better)
I'm not opposed to used options at all. I live in the Birmingham, AL area. I don't plan on any offroading but would like something that rides reasonably well, but looks more aggressive than stock. I'm in pastures occasionally.

I've read the stickies, I'm just a little overwhelmed as I've never bought aftermarket wheels. Despite watching youtube videos and reading the concepts of wheel spacers and offset still confuse me.

Also if you have any examples of setups that you wouldn't mind sharing I would appreciate it!

Grans would put Michelin Defenders LTX on, but you probably want some kind of Knobbies around the outside edge which will create some more than usual rubbing when going up to a bigger tire. Check out Darkness and How Big is Yours Thread here for pics. There is a Rims Thread as well which might help you.

$1,400 for tires, and wheels. So $2,800 budget. Cause that’s more realistic than $1,400 total.

My setup was $300. Wheels were free and tires were take offs from a new Ram rebel, Toyo AT 285’s for $300 for all 4. I mounted and balanced them myself at my buddies house. About as cheap as you can get.

im running the updated SEMA wheels with 255/80r17 tires. so far i've had zero rub with the ~100 miles ive put on them.. this is with a 2" lift up front
    [IMG]

    90% sure 285 width 33s would rub.

Love that setup! Enjoyed your thread on this truck as well! Another question, is that an OEM bumper?

I spent $2900.00 for these 18" Method wheels & Nitto Trail Grappler G2's. I absolutely love them. My suggestion is if you have a Discount Tire near you, to go there & have them help you "fit" the truck. I had no idea what size to get because the truck had so many crazy things done to it prior to me purchasing it. They were spot on with my tire size. Fills it up perfectly with no rubbing at full turn! They can also help you determine what kind of "poke" you will get, if you want any at all. They were completely accurate on that as well. The guy that helped me actually owned a 2006 with I think maybe those wheels you are looking at! They looked great on his! If I get by there within the next week I will see what tires/size he is running. Or you can always call the Farragut, TN location & ask for Chris & ask him! 20210428_145408.jpg

@empty_lord couple more questions if you don't mind. I noticed your truck didn't have the door molding. I love that clean look. Any resource (video would be great) of how to shave the doors? Also, could I get the lift needed for your tire/wheel setup with the 5160 bilsteins? Thanks so much!

thats how the truck came from the factory, no body moldings. as for the lift im running 5100s with OME 886 springs and an icon 3 leaf AAL with the factory overload still installed. the wheels are 2021 4runner TRD pro wheels with cooper ST maxx tires in 255/80r17

i also have the camburg UCA, highly recommend them for the added caster. pretty sure theyre the biggest reason i have no rub. im run roughly 2.8 degrees of caster.

16” vision wheels with 265/75 KO2s, minor rub at full lock in reverse. Total was $1.5k via discount tire last year. I was limited by size because I didn’t want to level the truck and bought new wheels with the ideal offset because I wanted a close to flush look but didn’t want to run spacers.95480604-9F08-48A7-9235-D97CC69BE4FA.jpgE9D992EA-A192-4669-A87F-D060FE7CD56F.jpg

Sorry I'm late! I got hung up with other things.

Ahem, excuse me ma'am, but I beleive you've parked your land yacht in the "perfect sized truck" section.

There's no need to be ugly. I just saw a post and was trying to be helpful, as I was having the same problem trying to make a wheel/tire decision. I like all Toyota trucks including my dad's two Tacos & hubby's 2008. I don't understand why the need to be unkind. If you can't say something nice, then just don't say anything at all. You're just a bully.

No need to falsely name call on people and wrongly accuse them of something they aren’t. BMF kindly reminded you of your location in a Texas Sized kind of kindness. Maybe slip away nicely into the other section?

It’s not a joke. Telling someone to get out of a section is not how we do business around here...especially from members with a long line of being an ass.

So now I have one member that wants to delete an account due to other members actions. Instead of making a whole section pay, we just like to “fix the glitch” if you know what I mean.

@ColoradoTJ perhaps educating people on the decorum expected + forum organization is in order. I think both sides can learn from this don’t you?

I appreciate the forum being both civil and well organized. :)

The atmosphere at Tundras.com is meant to be welcoming and friendly to anyone who visits. Therefore, the staff of this site have laid out the following guidelines:

Use of offensive and inflammatory language, discussions or content targeting an ethnic, political or religious group, gender, sexual orientation, name calling, and humiliating or bashing members is prohibited in the forums. Political discussion, talk or displays of reckless driving, street racing and excessive speeding are also not permitted here. Posting links or information for the purpose of pirating or illegally obtaining products is also prohibited.

Any political discussion or images will result in a 30-day ban from the site.

Personal attacks or threats against other members will not be tolerated and will generally result in expulsion from the site.

Any link pertaining to a Crowdsource fundraiser links are not permitted without prior approval by the staff

Fundraising accounts should be for legitimate needs (mainly life/safety contributions. House lost in fire, medical care, etc.) The reasoning for this is the staff have recently noticed someone create a "GoFundMe" account at the reasoning of ""Saw another Tundra member doing it so I figured what the hell why not lol." This is NOT a GoFundMe forum and we are not about asking for handouts. This applies to any fund raising means as well; such as raffles, lotteries, etc.

Should you have reason to take issue with a thread or post content, please discuss it with the Site Administrator or Moderators. Do not feel obligated or empower yourself to deal with the issue on their behalf. Such action will not be tolerated since it quickly spins out of control and the consequences are irreversible. Such unwarranted action almost never remedies the issue but hurts and brings disrepute to all members of the site.

Images or discussions that are questionable or sexual in nature DO NOT belong on the forum. A vast cross section of people browse this site from their places of work and/or homes where co-workers or family members are nearby. These members should not have to worry about potentially embarrassing images appearing on their screen as a result of careless posting.

Any violation of the guidelines set out above will be dealt with by the moderators at their own discretion, including permanently banning members who decide to go against the rules and spirit of the site.

I think this was a big misunderstanding. Anyone that spends enough time here knows BMF is just joking. We pick fun at the 3rd gen guys/gals because they often come in here with advice that isn't relevant with our old trucks. He's not trying to offend anyone. @TNCountrygal please don't take offense. Also, I too am from Lenoir City, currently living in Knoxville! Please stick around.
