I wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled out the Bed liner this afternoon. I can't remember if its a Toyota Bed liner or a Pendaliner. Anyways, it was relatively easy to remove, just bow it up in the center and pull it out. Was surprised to find a thin layer of a sheet of black foam between the bed liner and the floor of the bed. When I pulled the foam sheet out, the truck bed was, well... pretty stinking clean! I swept it out, pulled the front two bed plugs and was washed the bed. For a 2001, the bed looks almost new! No rust anywhere!

Anyone else encountered the thin foam sheet under the bed liner? Its kinda tattered at the edge near where it sits at the tail gate end.

    Always wanted to use this:
    :worthless:

But no, never heard of the thin foam. I’m definitely not an expert but it seems like that would solve a lot of the rusted bed issues that bed liners induce.

I pulled mine out last year and found no such layer of foam. Was pretty clean except for piles of mulch built up in the corners near the cab. Washed her and Shprayed Rustoleum Bedliner and threw the Old Liner back on. The Plastic Liner has served me well.

I think most of the Rust starts from under the bed cross frames and bubbles upwards.

If it wasn't for the rust in my bed, I wouldn't have even had a bed...:(
