While cruising the local FB marketplace, I ran across an ad for 01-15 Sequoia leather power seats for sale $150.00. The seller replied that the seats were in good shape and grey which would match my interior so I snapped them up.

The mechanical install was pretty simple, the mounts aligned perfectly with the Tundra's bolt holes so had the old seats out and new in place in short order. The electrical issues were a bit more complicated. Fortunately, the seller had also included the connectors and a foot of wiring harness for each of the seats.

Luckily, the 04 Double Cab has power running to the drivers side seat, which should help, except I started on the passenger side where there is no power so had already pulled a wire from the battery. Next, I removed my "new" power wire and simply ran a jumper from the drivers side seat plug, under the carpet to the passenger side. The connector wiring on the passenger side has much the same color code as on the Sequoia seat connector, so I only had to remove one small black wire and replace it with my power jumper and then add a white jumper I removed from the Sequoia plug, which was grounded to the truck floor near the wire bundle.

The drivers side Tundra seat plug would not interface with the Sequoia seat so I cut the Tundra connector off and spliced in the Sequoia connector by matching the wire colors as close as possible. Amazingly, both seats had power and my only dash alarm was the seatbelt light was on. I thought this is a breeze, just plug in the seat belt, but NOOOO!, I found then that the Tundra seat belt slide will not fit Sequoia seat belt receiver.

Obviously, the next step was to rob the receiver portion from my old seats so the exchange was made. 2 black wires which went to the Sequoia receiver were shorted together to hopefully make the seat belt alarm think the belt was joined.

In the end, my only alarm is a flashing passenger seat belt warning, which I think I may be able to neutralize by connecting together another pair of small wires which came from the drivers side seat belt receiver which I did not connect to anything. Currently, black electrical tape covers the flashing warning light on the dash.

My impression of the Sequoia leather seats has been very favorable. The ability to adjust them with a simple button is an upgrade but the real plus is the comfort. Leather seats are easier for me to slide into and the padding in the seat bottom and back is definitely superior to my old cloth seats.

Well worth the time and effort!Sequoia leather seats.jpg

They don’t look like they match your truck though

Dead stock with oem 16" starfish wheels. We'll see how long that lasts. :) Topper of unknown origin.
Very nice. The leather appears to be in unusually good condition.

I solved the flashing seat belt warning light by removing the bulb. Nowadays I could probably do that in my '03 in less than seven minutes, maybe five. If it's a first time for you then 15 - 20 minutes.

The seats look much lighter in the photo than they actually are, and I have dye which will even match them better.

I have a couple of dash bulbs on order and will remove the offending bulb when I pop the dash...

If I didn't have leather this looks like a really valid option. Great post. They look great.

Exact situation here JohninHunt, except I installed 2004 Sequoia seats in my 2004 Tundra DC, so the connectors/plugs are an exact match (your Sequoia seats look newer), excellent write-up though the passenger wiring is a bit “out of my wheelhouse”. I had manual leather seats but the driver seat was toast & I really wanted heated seats, for which the truck is pre-wired & plugged right up to the Sequoia switches which came with the silver hammered-look console (but I don’t think the driver-side heater is working). I too started with the passenger side & started cursing. Seats arrived in their forward-most & upright position, so I actually set the passenger seat on the driver-side, which also plugged right up & abracadabra, power! Somewhat strange the truck has existing seat heater switch wiring for both sides but no passenger power. Considering seats have continuous power when ignition is off, just run a hot wire from the driver seat & ground, or run a designated wire from the battery instead? It would be nice if the truck connector would accept a power and ground wire negating the need to splice. Anything you can add that might help? I however don’t have the luxury of extraneous plugs & wiring which I did request but didn’t happen..
